Guerra e industria nella narrativa di Giovanni Pirelli

Abstract

In questo elaborato viene ripercorsa la vita di Giovanni Pirelli, anche attraverso alcune delle sue opere letterarie. Primogenito e futuro titolare della famosa azienda italiana produttrice di pneumatici in gomma, stravolge il suo destino. Si arruola nell'esercito, prima nelle file fasciste in Albania, poi, ritornato in Italia, si avvicinerà alle bande Partigiane. I suoi veri interessi però sono la scrittura e la cultura e riuscirà, con impegno e dedizione, a farne la sua professione. Sarà anche coinvolto da Elio Vittorini e Italo Calvino nel dibattito su Letteratura e industria, trattato nei numeri 4 e 5 de "Il Menabò". Le sue opere rispecchiano ogni ruolo che ha vissuto: il militare, il Partigiano e l'industriale. Un uomo ricco di ideali, che si è sempre impegnato per riuscire ad essere leale verso la sua natura, ma anche verso la sua famiglia. Il modo coraggioso di condurre la sua vita seguendo sempre i suoi ideali e i suoi desideri ha fatto si che venisse definito un " intellettuale rivoluzionario".

This thesis retraces the life of Giovanni Pirelli, also through some of his literary works. Firstborn and future owner of the famous Italian tire manufacturing company, he turns his destiny upside down. He joins the army, first in the fascist ranks in Albania, then, upon returning to Italy, he joined the Partisan gangs. His real interests, however, are writing and culture, he will succeed, with commitment and dedication, to make it his profession. He will also be involved by Elio Vittorini and Italo Calvino in the debate on Literature and Industry, treated in numbers 4 and 5 of "Il Menabò". His works reflect every role he experienced: the military, the Partisan and the industrialist. A man full of ideals, who has always worked to be loyal to his nature, but also to his family. His brave way of leading his life, always following his ideals and desires, has led him to be defined as a revolutionary intellectual.
