Tra resistenza e cambiamento: il ruolo della donna nei cartoni animati Disney.

Abstract

La seguente ricerca si focalizza sull’indagare il ruolo della figura femminile, come esso sia cambiato nel corso degli anni, all’interno dei film di animazione della casa cinematografica Disney, usciti nell’arco di tempo compreso tra il 1937 e il 2021, con l’obiettivo di tracciare e identificare traiettorie di decostruzione o, al contrario, di conferma di modelli e ruoli femminili stereotipati. Lo scopo della tesi è quello di evidenziare come all’interno dei cartoni Disney, che vengono guardati quotidianamente dai bambini, siano presenti stereotipi e ruoli di genere, i quali secondo alcune teorie - come la Gender Schema Theory (Bem 1981; Martin e Halverson 1981), la teoria della coltivazione (Gerbner et al. 1994), la teoria cognitiva sociale (Bussey e Bandura 1999) e la teoria dell'identità (Hogg et al.1995) -, vengono interiorizzati e riportati in determinati comportamenti o atteggiamenti futuri.

The following research focuses on investigating the role of the female figure, how it has changed over the years, within the animated films of the Disney film company, released in the period between 1937 and 2021, with the aim of tracing and identifying trajectories of deconstruction or, on the contrary, confirmation of stereotyped female models and roles. The aim of the thesis is to highlight how gender stereotypes and roles are present within Disney cartoons, which are watched daily by children, which according to some theories - such as the Gender Schema Theory (Bem 1981; Martin and Halverson 1981 ), cultivation theory (Gerbner et al. 1994), social cognitive theory (Bussey and Bandura 1999), and identity theory (Hogg et al. 1995) – are internalized and carried over into certain future behaviors or attitudes.
