Spiegherò inoltre brevemente cosa accade a livello metabolico. | it_IT |
dc.description.abstract | After ischemic heart disease, stroke stands as the second cause of death among Italians, responsible for 9-10% of all deaths, making it the first cause of disability. Approximately 90,000 hospitalizations due to cerebral stroke are recorded in our country annually, of which 20% are recurrences. 20-30% of people with a stroke die within a month of the event, and 40-50% within the first year. Only 25% of stroke survivors recover completely, while 75% survive with some form of disability, and half of these suffer from a severe deficit that causes a loss of self-sufficiency.
The subject of this thesis will be stroke and the recent rehabilitation methods, which are based on a fundamental concept for neuroscience such as brain plasticity. The following work will be divided into two chapters. In the first chapter, I will explain what stroke is, using the WHO definition, the risk factors, and what happens at the level of brain plasticity before and after an ischemic lesion. I will also briefly explain what happens at the metabolic level. In the second chapter, however, I will present five recent rehabilitation methods that exploit brain plasticity with related supporting studies. | en_UK |
