La dismissione industriale come opportunità di rigenerazione: Il caso di Lanerossi a Schio (VI)

Abstract

La riflessione progettuale parte dal riconoscimento dell'eredità industriale che ancora persiste nella comunità di Schio. Nonostante l'abbandono della fabbrica Lanerossi, la memoria della sua presenza non è stata cancellata, poiché la forma della città è stata plasmata dall'interazione con gli spazi di produzione. Dal momento della costruzione della Fabbrica Alta nel 1862, la Lanerossi ha influenzato lo sviluppo dell'intera città, fornendo non solo lavoro, ma anche servizi per la comunità, come mense, scuole e teatri. Tuttavia, nel 1970, le nuove dinamiche dell'industria veneta hanno interrotto il rapporto tra fabbrica e città, portando alla costruzione di due nuovi stabilimenti al di fuori del centro storico e al progressivo abbandono dell'area vicino al centro di Schio. La città ha perso un elemento importante della propria identità e deve ora affrontare un vuoto urbano di grandi dimensioni, chiuso da un recinto e isolato dalle attività della città. In questo spazio, la natura ha preso il sopravvento, creando un nuovo ambiente ibrido senza una precisa identità.

The design reflection starts from the recognition of the industrial heritage that still persists in the community of Schio. Despite the abandonment of the Lanerossi factory, the memory of its presence has not been erased, the shape of the city has been shaped by the interaction with the production spaces. Since the construction of the Fabbrica Alta in 1862, Lanerossi has influenced the development of the entire city, providing not only work but also services for the community, such as canteens, schools and theatres. However, in 1970, the new dynamics of Venetian industry interrupted the relationship between the factory and the city, leading to the construction of two new factories outside the historic center and the progressive abandonment of the area near the center of Schio. The city has lost an important element of its identity and is now faced with a large urban void, enclosed by a fence and isolated from the city's activities. In this space, nature has taken over, creating a new hybrid environment without a precise identity.
