Vita e lavoro degli schiavi musulmani nella Genova di età moderna

Abstract

Lo scopo del presente lavoro consiste nell'indagine delle attività lavorative autonome svolte dagli schiavi musulmani dello stuolo pubblico genovese tra XVII e XVIII secolo, evidenziando allo stesso tempo i legami tra le comunità schiavili di diversi stati dell'Italia moderna e i fenomeni di reciprocità tra Europa e Maghreb, nel tentativo di proporre un contributo utile allo studio della schiavitù in un quadro mediterraneo.

This study aims to enlighten the autonomous labour experience of the muslim slaves of the genoese public fleet between the XVIIth and the XVIIIth century, also highlighting the connections between the slave communities of the early modern italian states and the phenomenon of the reciprocity between Europe and Maghreb, thus trying to contribute to the study of the early modern slavery in a mediterranean perspective.
