Healing gardens: proposta di realizzazione di un parco terapeutico per l'Ospedale Ferrero di Verduno

Abstract

Spesso, l’ambiente ospedaliero, può risultare asettico, provocando nello stato d’animo del malato un senso di malessere, di chiusura, rendendo difficile al soggetto anche il coinvolgimento in attività di riabilitazione. Si sviluppa quindi la necessità di evadere da quel luogo estraneo e da quello stato di difficoltà. Gli healing gardens diventano così, un fattore essenziale per determinare la qualità di benessere nelle strutture sanitarie. Il progetto del giardino terapeutico, ha come obiettivo primario il miglioramento della salute del paziente, sia attraverso un’esperienza passiva del verde (ad esempio tramite la semplice osservazione del giardino), sia un coinvolgimento più dinamico (tramite terapie e attività all’esterno). L’Ospedale Michele e Pietro Ferrero, nuovo polo sanitario della zona delle Langhe e del Roero, si dimostra l’area ideale per affrontare il tema dei giardini terapeutici. La necessità di un progetto paesaggistico, nasce anche dal fatto che la struttura, così imponente, si colloca in un contesto collinare, prevalentemente naturale, circondato da boschi e da vigneti. L’organizzazione spaziale, la scelta e la struttura della vegetazione, i materiali e le funzioni che saranno proposte, sono state ragionate al fine di realizzare un parco terapeutico, dedicato ai pazienti ricoverati e al personale medico. Lo spazio sarà progettato in modo tale da integrare l’area e la struttura stessa dell’ospedale con il sistema del verde limitrofo, valorizzare il rapporto con il fiume Tanaro e riscoprire alcuni caratteri significativi del territorio.

Often, the hospital environment can be aseptic, provoking in the patient's state of mind a sense of malaise, of closure, making it difficult for the subject even to be involved in rehabilitation activities. The need therefore develops to escape from that foreign place and that state of distress. Healing gardens thus become an essential factor in determining the quality of well-being in healthcare facilities. The primary objective of the healing garden project is to improve the patient's health, whether through a passive experience of the green (e.g. by simply observing the garden) or a more dynamic involvement (through therapies and outdoor activities). The Michele and Pietro Ferrero Hospital, a new health centre in the Langhe and Roero area, proves to be the ideal area to address the theme of therapeutic gardens. The need for a landscape project also stems from the fact that the structure, so imposing, is located in a hilly, predominantly natural context, surrounded by woods and vineyards. The spatial organisation, the choice and structure of the vegetation, the materials and the functions that will be proposed, have been reasoned with the aim of creating a therapeutic park, dedicated to in-patients and medical staff. The space will be designed in such a way as to integrate the area and the hospital structure itself with the neighbouring green system, enhance the relationship with the Tanaro river and rediscover some significant features of the area.
