CRISALIDE. Metamorfosi del giardino perduto

Abstract

Sono abitante del mondo, amante della natura, e in particolare di quegli artefatti umani che sono i giardini. Si può definire natura un’opera scolpita dall’uomo? Approfondisco la questione, e più conosco il giardino, più raggiungo un’ipotesi: non esiste un'idea unica di giardino, così come la sua funzione non è né unica né esclusiva. Per comprendere il giardino e farlo proprio bisogna conoscerlo sino ai propri livelli più reconditi, studiarlo, sviscerarlo in tutte le sue forme evolutive, analizzando i contributi di tutte quelle scienze che hanno portato alla sua creazione e calarsi nelle teorie degli studiosi che hanno dato la propria idea di giardino. Possiamo comprendere come il giardino sia legato profondamente alle più disparate discipline, che lo hanno plasmato e trasformato nei millenni. Allora qual è il senso del giardino nella storia dell'uomo di oggi? Che cos'è il giardino per noi? Perché si è persa la cultura del giardino? L’uomo odierno è capace di comprendere la delicatezza di questi luoghi custodi di tesori verdi e antichi saperi? La tesi si propone di ricercare le regole a capo dell’arte dei giardini, di metterle in relazione e di riassumerle per trovare le linee guida per costruire il giardino ideale del futuro che verrà.

I am a world's habitant, a lover of nature, and in particular of those human artifacts that are gardens. Can you define nature as a work carved by man? I deepen the matter, and more I know the garden, more I reach a hypothesis: there is no unique idea of garden, just as its function is neither unique nor exclusive. In order to understand the garden and to do it properly, it is necessary to know it up to its most hidden levels, to study it, to explore it in all its evolutionary forms, analyzing the contributions of all those sciences that led to its creation and fall into the theories of scholars who gave their own idea of the garden. We can understand how the garden is deeply linked to the most diverse disciplines, which have shaped and transformed it over the millennia. So, what is the meaning of the garden in the history of the man of today? What is the garden for us? Why has the garden culture been lost? Is today’s man able to understand the delicacy of these places, guardians of green treasures and ancient knowledge? The thesis aims to research the rules at the head of the art of gardens, to relate them and summarize them to find guidelines for building the ideal garden of the future that will come.
