“Strappare lungo i bordi”: un confronto tra la versione francese sottotitolata e quella doppiata della miniserie di Zerocalcare

Abstract

La ricerca proposta, concentratasi sul primo episodio della serie animata “Strappare lungo i bordi” del fumettista romano Zerocalcare, in cui sono già riscontrabili gli aspetti più prominenti degni di analisi nei sottotitoli e nel doppiaggio francesi, si pone come obiettivo quello di individuare, a partire dalle caratteristiche del testo di partenza, le modalità attraverso le quali i due testi paralleli tradotti in lingua francese hanno incluso e trasposto gli elementi caratteristici della versione italiana (come umorismo e riferimenti culturali), concentrandosi in particolar modo sulle strategie traduttive utilizzate dalle due versioni e, in seguito, sul confronto tra i punti di particolare divergenza tra esse. Nel lavoro di tesi presentato, innanzitutto, sono state rilevate le caratteristiche del testo di partenza e sono stati evidenziati, avvalendosi di testi critici, gli elementi linguistici, umoristici e culturali che la traduzione della serie deve considerare. In seguito, si è passati all’analisi delle strategie traduttive utilizzate in sottotitolazione e doppiaggio francesi, individuandole attraverso il riferimento a una griglia di classificazione, adattata a partire da quella proposta da Schjoldager (2008). Successivamente alla definizione dei differenti approcci traduttivi adottati dalle due versioni, si è infine passati all’individuazione e all’analisi dei punti di divergenza più rilevanti tra le due traduzioni, sottolineando l’influenza degli approcci adottati nelle scelte da esse realizzate.

The present research, focusing on the first episode of the series “Tear along the dotted line” by Roman cartoonist Zerocalcare, in which the most prominent aspects worthy of analysis can already be found in the French subtitles and dubbing, aims to identify, starting from the characteristics of the source text, the ways in which the two parallel texts translated into French have included and transposed the characteristic elements of the Italian version (such as humor and cultural references), focusing especially on the translation strategies used by the two versions and, subsequently, on comparing the points of particular divergence between them. In this thesis work, first of all, the characteristics of the source text were surveyed and the linguistic, humorous and cultural elements that the translation of the series must consider were highlighted, making use of critical texts. Next, an analysis was made of the translation strategies used in French subtitling and dubbing, identifying them through the reference to a classification grid, adapted from that proposed by Schjoldager (2008). Following the definition of the different translation approaches adopted by the two versions, we finally moved on to the identification and analysis of the most relevant points of divergence between the two translations, emphasizing the influence of the approaches adopted in the choices they made.
