Il trasporto marittimo al cuore della globalizzazione: i casi Grimaldi e Alis

Abstract

A seguito di un periodo caratterizzato da evoluzioni e cambiamenti, si può affermare che la globalizzazione ricopra un ruolo essenziale e sempre più in crescita. Questa ricerca ha lo scopo di approfondire il ruolo del trasporto marittimo giocato nello sviluppo della globalizzazione, prendendo in considerazione il Gruppo Grimaldi e l’Associazione logistica dell’Intermodalità Sostenibile. Per spiegare al meglio il ruolo svolto dal trasporto marittimo e il conseguente approccio a tecnologie avanzate per ridurre l’inquinamento, sono state visitate le navi Grimaldi che approdano presso il porto di Genova, comprese le navi di ultima generazione, dal ponte di coperta alla sala macchina, con affiancamenti da parte di ufficiali, macchinisti e tecnici. Particolare attenzione è dedicata anche alle Nazioni Unite e all’Unione Europea e a tutti gli incentivi forniti per raggiungere i Development Sustainable Goals appartenenti all’ONU e gli obiettivi di miglioramento dell’UE entro il 2050. Sono stati utili dati statistici interni e la partecipazione alle Convention di A.L.I.S. durante la quale vengono trattati dati, argomenti di attualità come sostenibilità, intermodalità e infrastrutture con interviste a politici, istituzioni e ministri. Non soltanto il trasporto marittimo può essere considerato chiave della globalizzazione, ma anche l’inquinamento che ne deriva che causa danni a livello mondiale, per questo è stata condotta una ricerca sul continuo sviluppo di progetti che hanno come obiettivi efficienza ma soprattutto intermodalità. I progetti riportati, quali il trattamento dei gas di scarico, washwater filtration, zero emissioni in porto, efficienza idrodinamica e i conseguenti risultati confermano l’andamento positivo della riduzione dell’inquinamento e la volontà di risolvere questo problema a livello globale. A seguito delle ricerche effettuate, ci dovrà essere un cambiamento da parte di navi e porti.

Following a period marked by evolution and change, globalization can be said to play an essential and growing role. This research aims to investigate the role maritime transport played in the development of globalization, taking into consideration the Grimaldi Group and the Sustainable Intermodality Logistics Association. In order to best explain the role played by maritime transport and the consequent approach to advanced technologies to reduce pollution, Grimaldi ships calling at the port of Genoa, including the latest generation ships, were visited from the deck to the engine room, with side-by-side discussions by officers, machinists and technicians. Special attention is also paid to the United Nations and the European Union and all the incentives provided to achieve the Development Sustainable Goals belonging to the UN and the EU's improvement goals by 2050. In-house statistical data and participation in A.L.I.S. Conventions during which data, current topics such as sustainability, intermodality and infrastructure with interviews with politicians, institutions and ministers have been helpful. Not only maritime transport can be considered key to globalization, but also the resulting pollution that causes worldwide damage, which is why research has been conducted on the continued development of projects whose goals are efficiency but above all intermodality. The reported projects such as exhaust gas treatment, washwater filtration, zero port emissions, hydrodynamic efficiency and the resulting results confirm the positive trend of pollution reduction and the will to solve this problem globally. It is envisioned that these projects will be improved and deepened in the future, using new techniques for lower pollution in the long run, and at the same time making ships faster and more dynamic. As a result of the research done, there will not only have to be a change on the part of the ships, but also the ports.
