Bogotá is an ever-expanding city with its 8 million inhabitants and is destined to enter the ranking of the world’s most populous metropolises within the next decade equaling the other capitals of Latin America.Over the years, the Colombian capital has evolved to be internationally recognized for its social and urban commitment.Although the improvement of the living conditions in the city has greatly improved, situations of discomfort continue to exist especially in the large and constantly expanding suburbs.
The formal and informal structures of the city seem to coexist without ever interacting but rather generating clear divisions both at the urban and social level. The transposition from the urban to the housing level of this relationship is the fulcrum of this thesis that has as its objective the realization of an incremental and sustainable housing system for the San Francisco district, in the town of Ciudad Bolívar in Bogotá.
