Forte Tenaglia

Abstract

Le fortificazioni sono un immenso patrimonio per la città di Genova, non ancora valorizzato come meriterebbe. Negli ultimi anni, finalmente, il Comune di Genova ha iniziato ad attivarsi per dare una nuova vita a questi manufatti, che risultano, ad oggi, quasi tutti in stato di abbandono. Tra i forti di ponente è presente Forte Tenaglia, una delle opere più grandi dell’intera cinta muraria genovese. Grazie all’Associazione ‘La Piuma Odv’, che, da poco più di dieci anni, ha in concessione il forte, il manufatto ha ripreso vita ed è il primo ad essere nuovamente fruibile dai cittadini. Il grande lavoro di pulizia e gli interventi di restauro già eseguiti stanno riportando il forte ad un suo completo utilizzo, permettendo a sempre più persone di conoscerlo e ammirarlo. Come altri cittadini, anche noi abbiamo conosciuto il forte in una giornata ‘a porte aperte’ organizzata dall’associazione. Questa prima visita ha subito messo in luce la singolare storia del forte, che lo ha reso un manufatto eccezionale per la sua composizione. Inoltre, visitando il forte, si rimane felicemente sorpresi della vicinanza al centro abitato e affascinati dal panorama, che permette di vedere tutta la città sottostante. Volendo approfondire la conoscenza del forte, questa tesi vuole raccogliere tutte le informazioni possibili, che riguardano questo stupendo manufatto. La tesi è arrivata a proporre un’idea per rifunzionalizzare il complesso, regalando all’associazione e ai cittadini nuovi spazi, che permettano di vivere al meglio questo splendido manufatto, immerso nel verde. La nostra proposta ha l’obiettivo di utilizzare tutti gli spazi esistenti, convertendoli da luoghi di guerra a spazi per l’accoglienza, senza alterarne le caratteristiche strutturali e materiche. Questo sarà possibile sfruttando al meglio i grandi spazi presenti e rendendo il forte un luogo strettamente collegato con la città.

The fortifications are an immense patrimony for the city of Genoa, not yet valued as it deserves. In recent years, finally, the City of Genoa has begun to take action to give a new life to these artifacts, which are, to date, almost all in a state of decay. Among the forts of the west is Forte Tenaglia, one of the largest constructions of the entire city boundary wall of Genoa. Thanks to the Association 'La Piuma Odv', which, for a little more than ten years, has had the concession of the fort, the building has come back to life and it is the first one to be used again by the citizens. The great work of cleaning and restoration already carried out are bringing the fort back to its full use, allowing more and more people to know and admire it. Like other citizens, we have known the fort during an 'open day' organized by the association. This first visit has immediately highlighted the unique history of the fort, which has made it an exceptional artifact for its composition. Moreover, visiting the fort, the visitor is happily surprised by the proximity to the town and fascinated by the panorama, which allows you to see the whole city below. Wanting to deepen the knowledge of the fort, this thesis wants to collect all the possible informations about this wonderful artifact. The thesis is got to the idea to re-functionalize the complex, giving the association and the citizens new spaces, which allow them to better experience this beautiful artifact, surrounded by nature. Our proposal aims to use all existing spaces, converting them from places of war to spaces for the reception, without altering the structural and material characteristics. This will be possible by making the most of the proximity to the city and the large spaces present, so as to make the fort a place accessible daily by citizens.
