Prima evangelizzazione in America Latina durante la conquista. La nascita di un nuovo cristianesimo.

Abstract

Il presente elaborato cerca di comprendere lo sviluppo del cattolicesimo in America Latina durante i primi anni della conquista spagnola. All’interno di questo contesto, si cerca di comprendere il rapporto dei primi colonizzatori (Cristoforo Colombo, Hernán Cortés e Francisco Pizarro) con il progetto dell’evangelizzazione, il lavoro svolto dai missionari e le diverse difficoltà che nel complesso dovettero affrontare: la comunicazione, la ricerca di un metodo evangelizzatore, la conquista troppo violenta e infine l’influenza etnica. Quest’ultima sarà prevalente e molto forte. Fatto che determinerà la nascita di un nuovo cristianesimo molto diverso. Infine, si descriverà come nascono i primi santi più famosi dell’America Latina, come la Virgen de Guadalupe per il Messico e il Señor de los Milagros per il Perú, e si potrà osservare una continuità storica tra il passato e il presente, soprattutto nelle feste religiose.

The present paper seeks to understand the development of Catholicism during the early years of the Spanish conquest. Within this context, we try to understand the relationship of the first colonizers (Christopher Columbus, Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro) with the project of evangelization, the work carried out by the missionaries and the various difficulties they had to face overall: communication, the search for an evangelizing method, too violent conquest and finally ethnic influence. The latter will be prevalent and very strong. This will determine the birth of a very different new Christianity. Finally, we will descrive how the first most famous saints of Latin America are born, such as the Virgen de Guadalupe for Mexico and the Señor de los Milagros for Peru, and we will observe a historical continuity between the past and the present, especially in religious festivals.
