Terrior: La lana reinterpreta la tradizione della transumanza

Abstract

Il mio progetto di tesi è incentrato sulla cultura della transumanza, con l'obbiettivo di riscoprila e rivalorizzarla. Per questo ho ritenuto necessario andare a studiare ogni singolo aspetto: il significato, la storia, l'animale, la lana, la sua lavorazione fino all'impego degli scarti. Da qui nasce Terrior, una collezione di mobili di arredamento composta da quattro elementi: un tavolino, un appendiabiti, un separé e un cuscino. Essa vuole essere una narrazione contemporanea della transumanza, ma vuole anche essere un percorso di esplorazione tra le potenzialità della lana non ancora del tutto sfruttate. Per questo motivo ho scelto di associare ad ogni oggetto una parola che potesse rappresentare la funzione della lana ed essere quindi espressione dell'oggetto stesso.

My thesis project is focused on the culture of transhumance, with the aim of rediscovering and revalorizing it. For this reason I thought it was necessary to study every single aspect: the meaning, the history, the animal, the wool, its production and the use of waste. From here come Terrior, a collection of furniture composed of four elements: a table, a coat rack, a separé and a pillow. It wants to be a contemporary narration of transhumance, but it also wants to be a process of exploration among the potentialities of wool not yet fully exploited. For this reason I chose to associate each object with a word that could represent the function of wool and thus be an expression of the object itself.
