La figura di Taide nella letteratura mediolatina: Rosvita di Gandersheim e Iacopo da Varazze.

Abstract

Il presente lavoro analizza la figura di Taide nelle opere Conversio Thaidis meretricis, contenuta nei Drammi di Rosvita di Gandersheim e De sancta Thaysi, all'interno della Legenda aurea di Iacopo da Varazze, delineandone anche la metamorfosi in relazione al contesto storico e sociale della prostituzione in età medievale.

La tesi si articola in tre capitoli e vari sottocapitoli di approfondimento. Il primo capitolo è dedicato al mestiere della prostituzione in epoca medievale, il secondo ai luoghi dove le prostitute pentite potevano essere accolte e il terzo analizza nello specifico i testi dei due autori.

Il risultato della ricerca mostra come il personaggio letterario di Taide e il modo in cui è narrato e presentato si modifica gradualmente in rapporto all'evoluzione della professione durante i secoli.

This work analyzes the figure of Taide in the works "Conversio Thaidis meretricis", contained in the Dramas by Rosvita de Gandersheim and "De sancta Thaysi", within the Golden Legend of Iacopo de Varazze, also outlining its metamorphosis in relation to the historical and social context of prostitution in medieval times. The thesis is divided into three chapters and various further sub-chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to the profession of prostitution in medieval times, the second to the places where repentant prostitutes could be accepted and the third specifically analyzes the texts of the two authors. The result of the research shows how the character of Taide, and the way in which it is narrated and presented, gradually changes in relation to the evolution of the profession over the centuries.
