Il presente lavoro ha come proposito quello di far emergere la figura del flâneur attraverso la traduzione di uno dei testi inediti più rappresentativi della letteratura ottocentesca in lingua inglese dedicata al noto pittore della vita metropolitana prima parigina, poi londinese: The Natural History of the Idler Upon Town di Albert Richard Smith.

The purpose of this work is to bring out the figure of the flâneur through the translation of one of the most representative unpublished texts of nineteenth-century literature in English dedicated to the well-known painter of metropolitan life, first in Paris, then in London: The Natural History of the Idler Upon Town by Albert Richard Smith.
