In-visibilia

Abstract

La tesi indaga il processo creativo nelle arti performative, con l’obiettivo di restituire visibilità a tutte quelle fasi che precedono la rappresentazione teatrale e che normalmente rimangono invisibili allo spettatore. Partendo dal presupposto che la performance sia per sua natura effimera e destinata a esistere nel presente, la ricerca riflette sul rapporto tra evento teatrale e documentazione, interrogandosi su come sia possibile conservarne le tracce senza snaturarne l’essenza. In questo contesto, il progetto propone la realizzazione di un dispositivo editoriale ibrido e interattivo, concepito come archivio attivo capace di integrare testo, immagini, audio e video, con l’intento di trasformare il libro in uno strumento performativo che permetta di attraversare e comprendere il processo creativo nella sua complessità. La ricerca si colloca nel dibattito teorico sulla documentazione della performance, richiamando contributi sullo studio della performance e riflessioni sul valore delle tracce materiali del lavoro teatrale. In particolare, viene evidenziata la necessità di superare una prospettiva limitata alla sola rappresentazione finale, per includere prove, dinamiche collaborative, scelte scenografiche, sonore e organizzative che contribuiscono alla costruzione dello spettacolo. Come caso studio viene analizzato Scacco Matto, spettacolo itinerante del Teatro della Tosse di Genova, che trasforma lo spazio urbano in scena e coinvolge attivamente il pubblico. Attraverso lo studio delle fasi ideative, delle prove e dell’allestimento, il lavoro ricostruisce la rete di relazioni artistiche e tecniche che sostiene l’evento performativo. Il progetto editoriale In-visibilia si propone quindi come modello innovativo di documentazione teatrale, capace di rendere accessibile e riattivabile il processo creativo, contribuendo alla conservazione e alla trasmissione del patrimonio culturale immateriale legato alle arti dello spettacolo.

The thesis investigates the creative process in the performing arts, with the aim of bringing visibility to all those phases that precede the theatrical performance and that normally remain invisible to the audience. Starting from the premise that performance is by nature ephemeral and destined to exist in the present, the research reflects on the relationship between the theatrical event and documentation, questioning how it is possible to preserve its traces without altering its essence. In this context, the project proposes the creation of a hybrid and interactive editorial device, conceived as an active archive capable of integrating text, images, audio, and video, with the intention of transforming the book into a performative tool that allows readers to explore and understand the creative process in its complexity. The research is situated within the theoretical debate on the documentation of performance, drawing on contributions from performance studies and reflections on the value of the material traces of theatrical work. In particular, it highlights the need to move beyond a perspective limited to the final performance alone, in order to include rehearsals, collaborative dynamics, and scenographic, sound, and organizational choices that contribute to the construction of the show. As a case study, the thesis analyzes Scacco Matto, an itinerant performance by Teatro della Tosse in Genoa, which transforms the urban space into a stage and actively involves the audience. Through the study of the conceptual phases, rehearsals, and staging, the work reconstructs the network of artistic and technical relationships that supports the performative event. The editorial project In-visibilia is therefore proposed as an innovative model for theatrical documentation, capable of making the creative process accessible and reactivatable, contributing to the preservation and transmission of the intangible cultural heritage connected to the performing arts.
