Abstract

The aim of this paper was to analyze the migration phenomenon in the Italian context, retracing its main stages from a historical perspective and then summarizing the current situation in quantitative, qualitative, and regulatory terms. Chapter I analyzed the evolution of the phenomenon from the first migratory experiences of the 1970s to the historical and legislative developments of the 1980s and 1990s. Chapter II proceeded chronologically with the analysis of the main events and changes that characterized the first twenty years of the new millennium, within a constantly evolving regulatory framework (including European) with a particular focus on the issue of asylum seekers. Finally, Chapter III was dedicated to an in-depth analysis of the current situation with the help of the most up-to-date data possible (2024/2025) relating to the Italian, Piedmont, and Asti contexts. Finally, it concluded with what may be the future prospects of an increasingly crucial topic in domestic and international debate.

Lo scopo di questo elaborato è stato quello di analizzare il fenomeno migratorio nel contesto italiano, ripercorrendone le tappe principali in chiave storica per poi arrivare a sintetizzare la situazione odierna in termini quantitativi, qualitativi e normativi. Nel capitolo I è stata analizzata l’evoluzione del fenomeno a partire dalle prime esperienze migratorie degli anni ’70, fino agli sviluppi storici e legislativi degli anni ’80 e ’90. Nel capitolo II si è proceduto cronologicamente con l’analisi dei principali fatti e cambiamenti che hanno caratterizzato i primi venti anni del nuovo millennio, all’interno di una cornice normativa (anche Europea) in continua evoluzione, con un focus particolare sul tema dei richiedenti asilo. Il capitolo III è stato infine dedicato all’approfondimento della situazione attuale con l’ausilio di dati il più possibile aggiornati (2024/2025) riferiti al contesto italiano, piemontese e astigiano, per concludere, infine, con quelle che possono essere le prospettive future di un tema sempre più cruciale nel dibattito interno e internazionale
