Musicoterapia – Traduzione di frammenti da «Usi terapeutici del Rap e dell’Hip hop» di Susan Handley e George Yancy.

Abstract

Questa tesi nasce dal desiderio di esplorare le potenzialità terapeutiche del Rap, un linguaggio che mi ha sempre colpito per la sua forza espressiva e la capacità di raccontare il dolore, la lotta, la rinascita. Ho scelto di guardarlo da due prospettive: quella della traduzione musicale e quella della musicoterapia. Al centro del mio lavoro ci sono due testi molto diversi tra loro, ma legati da un filo comune: da un lato, un estratto di un manuale teorico che tratta l’uso del Rap in ambito terapeutico; dall’altro, una mia proposta di traduzione/adattamento del brano «Somebody save me» di Eminem e Jelly Roll, una canzone che mi ha colpita profondamente e che ho voluto reinterpretare in italiano cercando di restituirne il peso emotivo e musicale. L’idea di fondo è che il Rap, più che un semplice genere musicale, sia una forma di comunicazione potente e autentica, capace di entrare in contatto diretto con il vissuto di chi ascolta. Negli ultimi anni, il suo utilizzo in ambito terapeutico è cresciuto in modo significativo, in particolare nei percorsi di recupero da dipendenze e nelle situazioni di disagio giovanile. In questo lavoro ho cercato di capire meglio come funziona questo legame tra Rap e cura, e in che modo la traduzione, intesa non solo come trasposizione linguistica, ma come vero e proprio atto creativo, possa aiutare a trasmettere il valore di testi così intensi anche in un’altra lingua.

This thesis stems from my desire to explore the therapeutic potential of Rap: a form of expression that has always struck me for its expressive power and its ability to recount pain, struggle, and rebirth. I chose to approach it from two perspectives: musical translation and music therapy. At the core of my work are two very different texts linked by a common thread: on one hand, an excerpt from a theoretical manual that addresses the use of Rap in therapeutic settings; on the other hand, my proposed translation/adaptation of the song «Somebody Save Me» by Eminem and Jelly Roll: a track that deeply moved me and that I wanted to translate in Italian, striving to preserve its emotional and musical impact. The underlying idea is that Rap, more than just a musical genre, is a powerful and authentic form of communication capable of establishing a direct connection with the lived experiences of its listeners. In recent years, its use in therapeutic contexts has grown significantly, particularly in addiction recovery programs and in work with troubled youth. In this work, I have sought to better understand how this connection between Rap and healing works, and how translation, viewed not only as a linguistic transposition but as a true creative act, can help convey the value of such intense texts in another language.
