La tesi è incentrata sull'utilizzo delle bandiere ombra da parte della marineria genovese durante il '700. L' analisi si focalizza sulla duplice utilità di questo espediente più o meno legale: proteggersi dalla corsa barbaresca e aggirare il fisco.
