Abstract
In today's interconnected world, language proficiency, particularly in English, has become essential for effective intercultural communication. Italian primary schools, however, face several challenges in providing adequate English education, notably due to limited teaching hours and teachers' insufficient training. This thesis explores innovative methodologies, specifically digital storytelling and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), as effective solutions to these challenges. Digital storytelling, supported by tools such as the Skill Up! app, engages young learners by combining language acquisition with multimedia elements, enhancing motivation and making learning more inclusive. Meanwhile, the CLIL approach integrates language teaching with other curricular content, promoting a deeper and more natural acquisition of linguistic skills through meaningful contexts. Observations conducted in a primary school demonstrate how the combination of these methodologies significantly supports language learning, creating a more dynamic, authentic and student-centred educational environment.
