L’atto di scusa in francese ed in italiano: uno studio di pragmatica interculturale

Abstract

If we were to ask some people with different cultural backgrounds to indicate what, in their opinion, is the linguistic behavior that allows social balance to be restored after an unpleasant interaction, it is very likely that their answer will refer to the linguistic act of apologizing. However, if we wanted to be more punctilious and ask them to assume that they were the "guilty" party and to apologize for such a situation, there would probably be different outcomes in the enunciation strategies used to offer their apologies, and in their conception of the seriousness of such a situation, choices that will be partly influenced by their own cultural background. In the framework of this thesis, cross-cultural pragmatics research on the linguistic act of excuse in the Italian and French languages was conducted in order to identify the similarities and divergences in their modes of realization of this speech act.

Se chiedessimo ad alcune persone con background culturali differenti di indicare quale, secondo loro, è il comportamento linguistico che consente di ristabilire l’equilibrio sociale dopo un’interazione spiacevole, è molto probabile che la loro risposta si riferirà all’atto linguistico dello scusarsi. Tuttavia, se volessimo essere più puntigliosi e chiedere loro di ipotizzare di essere la parte “colpevole” e di scusarsi in seguito a tale situazione, probabilmente ci sarebbero esiti diversi nelle strategie di enunciazione utilizzate per l’offerta delle loro scuse, e nella loro concezione della gravità di tale situazione, scelte che saranno in parte influenzate dal proprio retroterra culturale. Nell’ambito di questa tesi è stata condotta una ricerca di pragmatica cross-culturale sull’atto linguistico di scusa nella lingua italiana e nella lingua francese al fine di identificare le somiglianze e le divergenze nelle loro modalità di realizzazione di questo atto linguistico.
