Overtourism e Disneyficazione: il caso di Venezia

Abstract

Questa tesi esamina il fenomeno dell'overtourism, concentrandosi principalmente sulla città di Venezia, simbolo delle sfide associate al turismo di massa. Il lavoro analizza l'evoluzione del turismo e le sue ripercussioni sociali, culturali e ambientali, evidenziando come il sovraffollamento turistico stia mettendo a dura prova la sostenibilità della città e di diversi luoghi del mondo. L'analisi approfondisce l'impatto del turismo sulle comunità locali, sull'ambiente e sul patrimonio culturale, esplorando anche le difficoltà e le tensioni che emergono nel rapporto tra i residenti dei luoghi interessati e i turisti. La tesi discute anche le misure adottate e le possibili soluzioni per promuovere un turismo più sostenibile, con particolare attenzione all'importanza di un approccio responsabile e inclusivo che metta al centro il benessere della comunità locale. Lo studio mostra come il caso di Venezia rappresenti una sfida fondamentale ma anche un'opportunità per ripensare il turismo in modo innovativo e sostenibile. La tesi sottolinea l'importanza della consapevolezza e della conoscenza per costruire un futuro in cui le città vulnerabili possano essere valorizzate e protette, garantendo un equilibrio tra sviluppo economico e sostenibilità.

This thesis examines the phenomenon of overtourism, focusing mainly on the city of Venice, a symbol of the challenges associated with mass tourism. The work analyzes the evolution of tourism and its social, cultural and environmental repercussions, highlighting how tourist overcrowding is putting a strain on the sustainability of the city and various places around the world. The analysis delves into the impact of tourism on local communities, the environment and cultural heritage, while also exploring the difficulties and tensions that emerge in the relationship between the residents of affected places and tourists. The thesis also discusses measures taken and possible solutions to promote more sustainable tourism, with a focus on the importance of a responsible and inclusive approach that puts the wellbeing of the local community in the centre. This study it displays how the case of Venice represents a fundamental challenge but also an opportunity to rethink tourism in an innovative and sustainable way. The thesis emphasizes the importance of awareness and knowledge to build a future in which vulnerable cities can be enhanced and protected, ensuring a balance between economic development and sustainability.
