Una letteratura per salvare il mondo, L'immortale di Bożena Keff.

La presente tesi di laurea propone un’approfondita analisi, includendo la traduzione di alcuni frammenti del libro L’Immortale [Nieśmiertelny] di Bożena Keff pubblicato in Polonia nel maggio 2024 dalla casa editrice Filtry. La prima parte dell’elaborato introduce la figura di Bożena Keff - scrittrice, poetessa e studiosa di letteratura, docente di filosofia ed etica inoltre, critica cinematografica, traduttrice, pubblicista, attivista sociale e femminista. La sua biografia viene ricostruita principalmente sulla base di diverse interviste rilasciate dall'autrice nel corso degli anni. La seconda parte della tesi propone una breve presentazione delle varie opere della scrittrice, contenente diverse citazioni con le relative traduzioni. Al centro della tesi viene posto il suo primo libro di narrativa L’Immortale, consistente in nove brevi racconti, la maggior parte dei quali sono uniti dal personaggio di Marzanna, che compare nelle varie fasi della propria vita, in un arco di tempo di circa quarant'anni. Nell’opera vengono sollevate questioni importanti e attuali ma allo stesso tempo in qualche modo scomode come la discriminazione di genere, l’antisemitismo e l’omofobia. Keff riflette sulla morte, sulla religiosità, sulla paura della realtà, tocca i temi della memoria dell'Olocausto, sul conflitto generazionale tra genitori sopravissuti e loro figli. L’Immortale mostra un’interessante e intensa testimonianza dei cambiamenti politici avvenuti in Polonia dal dopoguerra ai tempi moderni, con particolare sguardo sulle caratteristiche della società e della cultura polacca.

A literature to save the world, The Immortal by Bożena Keff.

The present thesis offers an in-depth analysis, including translating some fragments of the book The Immortal [Nieśmiertelny] by Bożena Keff, published in Poland in May 2024 by the publishing house Filtry. The first part of the thesis introduces the figure of Bożena Keff - writer, poet, scholar, professor of philosophy and ethics, film critic, translator, publicist, social activist, and feminist. Her biography is reconstructed mainly based on several interviews given by the author over the years. The second part of the thesis offers a brief presentation of the various works of the writer, containing several quotes with relative translations. The thesis focuses on her first book written in prose - The Immortal, consisting of nine short stories, most of which are linked by the character of Marzanna, who appears in the various phases of her life, over the time of about forty years. The book raises important and actual but at the same time somewhat “uncomfortable” issues such as gender discrimination, anti-Semitism, and homophobia. Keff reflects on death, religiosity, on fear of reality, and touches on the themes of the memory of the Holocaust on the generational conflict between surviving parents and their children. The Immortal shows an interesting and intense testimony of the political changes that have taken place in Poland from the post-war period to modern times, with a particular focus on the characteristics of Polish society and culture.
