Leopardi e l'esperienza satirica delle "Prosette"

Abstract

Questo lavoro prende in esame il progetto delle Prosette satiriche, a cui Leopardi si dedica negli anni tra il 1820 e il 1822, ponendo una particolare attenzione all'utilizzo del genere della satira. Nel primo capitolo della tesi viene indagata la nascita del progetto, la dichiarazione d'intenti e la scelta del modello letterario da seguire (Luciano di Samosata). Analizzando le motivazioni che spingono l'autore verso questo lavoro, si è tentato di tenere in considerazione sia il contesto storico, politico e culturale dell'Italia del tempo, sia le condizioni ideologiche dello scrittore recanatese. I capitoli centrali prendono in analisi i testi di due Prosette, precisamente la prima e l'ultima, esaminandone le tematiche, i personaggi e le ambientazioni, così da delineare i tratti satirici che caratterizzano questa fase della poetica leopardiana. L'ultimo capitolo, nel descrivere la rinuncia dello scrittore recanatese a questo lavoro, tenta di evidenziare il passaggio dal progetto delle Prosette satiriche a quello delle Operette Morali, giungendo a dare prova di un uso dell'ironia e di una satira che, nonostante un inasprimento del pensiero leopardiano, non vengono tuttavia abbandonate.

This work examines the project of Prosette satiriche, to which Leopardi dedicated himself in the years between 1820 and 1822, paying particular attention to the use of the genre of satire. In the first chapter of the thesis, is investigated the birth of the project, the declaration of intent and the choice of the literary model to be followed (Luciano di Samosata). Analyzing the motivations that drive the author towards this work, we tried to take into account both the historical, political and cultural context of Italy at the time, as well as the ideological conditions of the writer of Recanati. The central chapters take in analysis the texts of two Prosette, precisely the first and the last, examining their themes, characters and settings, so as to outline the satirical traits that characterize this phase of the Leopardian poetics. The last chapter, in describing the renunciation of the writer recanatese to this work, tries to highlight the transition from the project of the Prosette satiriche to that of the Operette Morali, coming to prove a use of irony and a satire that, In spite of a sharpening of the Leopardian thought, they are not abandoned.
