La sostenibilità e il fondamentale ruolo dell'impresa. Un approfondimento del Bilancio di Sostenibilità 2022 del Gruppo Spinelli

Abstract

Da alcuni anni il tema della sostenibilità è presente in ogni aspetto della vita quotidiana ed è al centro del dibattito politico da un punto di vista economico, sociale ed ambientale. In questo contesto le imprese ricoprono un ruolo fondamentale e quindi devono essere considerate tra i principali agenti di sviluppo sostenibile per far fronte alle tragiche esternalità che l’incessante consumo di risorse sta provocando. Per molto tempo, l’attenzione al sociale, all’ambiente e alle buone attività di governance da parte delle aziende, è stata una scelta completamente libera ed indipendente, così come lo è stata la comunicazione agli stakeholders esterni. I risultati venivano presentati sulla base di logiche proprie di ciascuna organizzazione e quindi non potevano essere misurati o paragonati a quelli di altre imprese. I criteri ESG rappresentano un’importante svolta perché permettono di rapportare a misurazioni oggettive e comuni anche le attività ambientali, sociali e di governance, ed è con il bilancio di sostenibilità che sempre più imprese comunicano gli impatti che queste hanno nei tre ambiti ESG. In questo elaborato verrà analizzato il bilancio di sostenibilità 2022 presentato dal Gruppo Spinelli, importante realtà genovese che opera nel settore della logistica e verrà approfondito il cold ironing, una possibile soluzione per diminuire l’inquinamento ambientale nei porti.

In the last few years, the topic of sustainability has entered every aspect of daily life and it has become the core of the political debate from an economic, social and environmental point of view. In this context, the companies fulfil an essential role and must be considered among the main sustainable development agents who need to confront the tragic externalities that have been caused by the constant consumption of resources. For a long time, the firms' choice to focus on social, environmental and good governance themes has been completely free and independent, as was the communication to external stakeholders. These results have been presented th rough a logic set by each organisation, so that they couldn't be measured or compared to the ones gathered by other companies. The ESG criteria allow us to compare environmental, social and good governance activities to objective measurements, and so they represent an important innovation. As a consequence, an increasing number of companies have chosen to publish how they affect the ESG fields through sustainability reports. In this dissertation, I am analysing the 2022 sustainability report produced by Gruppo Spinelli, an important company from Genoa operating in the logistics field, and I am studying the cold ironing system, a possible solution to decrease pollution levels in ports.
