L'antiebraismo in Messico: tra politiche xenofobe e fascinazioni totalitarie europee.

Abstract

Questo studio si è posto l’obiettivo di indagare un fenomeno universale e molto spesso travisato come l’antiebraismo, in un’area geografica di poco interesse da una prospettiva europea, il Messico. Effettivamente, a differenza dei casi argentino e brasiliano che dispongono di una vasta letteratura scientifica che riguarda nello specifico l’antisemitismo latino-americano, gli approfondimenti sul Messico sono molto meno numerosi tanto da poter affermare che esiste una lacuna storiografica sull’esperienza dell’antiebraismo messicano. A questo proposito si ritiene importante provare a colmare questo vuoto dando avvio a una ricerca di testi e documenti dell’epoca che possano attestare o confutare l’esistenza di espressioni antisemite, o meramente antiebraiche, nel Messico degli anni Trenta e Quaranta, preoccupandoci di contestualizzare questi sentimenti giudeofobici nel tempo partendo dall’assoggettamento dei cattolicissimi spagnoli. Per quanto evidenziato dalle pubblicazioni accademiche, il Messico si contraddistingue per una solida coscienza cattolica, come è il caso di tutti i paesi latinoamericani, dovuto al retaggio della colonizzazione spagnola che ha ben radicato nella cultura messicana principi e convinzioni che appartenevano alla tradizione cristiana medioevale. Quindi in sostanza questo elaborato si è posto l’obiettivo di chiarire i dubbi circa la presenza o meno di una forma di giudeofobia in Messico, analizzando le origini coloniali durante il Virreinato de Nueva España, passando per i moti indipendentisti degli anni Venti del XIX secolo, fino ad arrivare al consolidamento dello Stato moderno degli anni Quaranta del XX secolo.

The present study sets itself the goal of investigating the universal phenomenon of anti-Judaism, in a geographic area of little interest from a European perspective, such as Mexico. Indeed, in contrast to the Argentine and Brazilian cases, which provide a wide scientific literature that covers the Latin American antisemitism, the insights on Mexico are far fewer so it can be said that an historiographic lacuna on the experience of the Mexican anti-Judaism exists. In this regard, it is considered important to try to fill the gaps initiating an investigation of the documents of the time to demonstrate or refute the existence of antisemitic expressions, or merely anti-Jewish, in Mexico during the thirties and forties of the twentieth century, being concerned with the contextualization of these Judeophobic sentiments starting from the subjection to the Spaniards. From the evidence, Mexico is distinguished by a firm Catholic conscience, as is the case with all Latin American countries, due to the heritage of the Spanish colonization which has entrenched in the Mexican culture principles and beliefs that belonged to the medieval Spanish tradition. Therefore, this thesis sets itself the goal of clarifying doubts around the presence of a form of Judeophobia in Mexico, analysing the colonial origins during the Virreinato de Nueva España, passing through the movements for independence of the twenties of the nineteenth century, until reaching the consolidation of the modern State of the forties of the twentieth century.
