Viaggio nella lettura: dagli albori ai giorni nostri, il fascino della parola scritta tra emozioni senza tempo e nuove sfide

Abstract

La motivazione che mi ha portato a compiere questo viaggio lungo cinque capitoli nasce dal desiderio di scoprire come la lettura abbia realmente accompagnato la storia dell'umanità. L'obiettivo di questa mia dissertazione è quello di fornire un'analisi accurata della situazione storica e attuale, cercando di comprendere quali siano i passi necessari da compiere affinché la lettura possa realmente mostrare il suo valore, arrivando al cuore di tutti. Nella prima parte del nostro percorso andremo ad analizzare il ruolo che la lettura ha rivestito nelle varie epoche storiche che si sono succedute: l'antichità classica, il medioevo, l'età moderna e infine l'età contemporanea, dove l'obbligo scolastico e la divulgazione di efficaci programmi di istruzione saranno i principali espedienti utilizzati nella lotta per creare una nuova cultura. All'alba del terzo millennio, la lettura è chiamata ad affrontare nuove ed inedite sfide in un ambiente in cui il digitale pare aver preso il sopravvento; tuttavia, sfateremo il luogo comune secondo cui la tecnologia ha soffocato la lettura, scoprendo come in realtà essa abbia offerto nuove arricchenti esperienze e interessanti opportunità. «Leggere è il cibo della mente», migliora la memoria, stimola la creatività e la capacità di ragionamento, ma soprattutto ci permette di compiere viaggi lontani verso orizzonti inesplorati e luoghi incredibili rimanendo comodamente seduti sul nostro divano. Ecco perché è così necessario promuovere la lettura fin dalla più tenera età, affinché tutti possano godere di un'emozione unica dai molteplici effetti benefici: il piacere della lettura.

The motivation that led me to undertake this five-chapter journey comes from the desire to discover how reading has truly accompanied the history of humanity. The objective of this dissertation is to provide an accurate analysis of the historical and current situation, trying to understand what steps are necessary to take so reading can truly show its value, reaching everyone's heart. In the first part of our journey we will analyze the role that reading has played in the various historical eras that have followed one another: the Classical Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Modern Age and finally the Contemporary Age, where compulsory schooling and the dissemination of effective education programs will be the main expedients used in the struggle to create a new culture. At the dawn of the third millennium, reading is called to face new and unprecedented challenges in an environment in which digital technology seems to have taken over; however, we will dispel the cliché according to which technology has stifled reading, discovering how it has actually offered new enriching experiences and interesting opportunities. «Reading is the food of the mind», it improves memory, stimulates creativity and reasoning ability, but above all it allows us to make distant journeys towards unexplored horizons and incredible places while remaining comfortably seated on our sofa. This is why it is so necessary to promote reading from an early age, so that everyone can enjoy a unique emotion with multiple beneficial effects: the pleasure of reading. ​
