Criticità e risorse del lavoro con i rifugiati e richiedenti asilo: il punto di vista degli operatori attraverso la tecnica del photovoice.

Abstract

La migrazione è un fenomeno di portata globale dai numeri in costante aumento. L’Italia, una delle principali vie di accesso per l’Europa, si è dotata di un sistema ricettivo nazionale, strutturato in base alle fasi di accoglienza, al fine di gestire il flusso dei migranti sul territorio All’interno delle strutture ricettive sono impiegate professionalità, figure chiave, che hanno il compito di accompagnare le persone nei loro percorsi di autonomia. La tesi si pone l’obiettivo di indagare le criticità e le sfide del lavoro quotidiano con i rifugiati e di favorire l’elaborazione di soluzioni da presentare ai decisori e agli stakeholders, attraverso lo strumento del Photovoice. La prima parte della tesi illustra i costrutti collegati alla parte di ricerca; i tre capitoli teorici delineano le caratteristiche e le fasi della migrazione, le principali teorie riguardanti l’acculturazione e i sintomi e le caratteristiche del trauma migratorio, descrivono le peculiarità e i rischi che può comportare la relazione di aiuto nel lavoro con i migranti e inquadrano il fenomeno della migrazione forzata attraverso l’ excursus delle politiche e direttive adottate dall’Italia e la descrizione dei servizi allo stato attuale. Il quarto capitolo introduce la tecnica del Photovoice illustrandone le basi teoriche, le caratteristiche metodologiche e gli ambiti di applicazione sia nel contesto migratorio che con gli operatori. Il quinto e ultimo capitolo è dedicato alla ricerca. Lo studio ha utilizzato lo strumento del Photovoice per indagare le criticità e le risorse del lavoro con i rifugiati e richiedenti asilo. I partecipanti erano 18 operatori sociali italiani impiegati nei sistemi di accoglienza a Savona. Le immagini scelte dagli operatori si sono focalizzate sulle sfide, le criticità del lavoro e le possibili soluzioni da proporre agli stakeholders. Le soluzioni proposte hanno riguardato: il lavoro di rete, la formazione, la supervisione, il contatto fra intergruppi.

Migration is a global phenomenon with constantly increasing numbers. Italy, one of the main access routes to Europe, has created a national reception system, structured according to the reception phases, in order to manage the flow of migrants on the territory. Inside the reception shelters there are, key figures, operators who have the task of accompanying people on their paths to autonomy. The thesis aims to investigate the critical issues and challenges of daily work with refugees and to encourage the development of solutions to be presented to decision makers and stakeholders, through the Photovoice tool. The first part of the thesis illustrates the constructs connected to the research part; the three theoretical chapters outline the characteristics and phases of migration, the main theories regarding acculturation and the symptoms and characteristics of migratory trauma, describe the peculiarities and risks that the helping relationship in working with migrants can entail and frame the phenomenon of forced migration through an overview of the policies and directives adopted by Italy and the description of the services in their current state. The fourth chapter introduces the Photovoice technique by illustrating its theoretical bases, methodological characteristics and areas of application both in the migratory context and with operators. The fifth and final chapter is dedicated to research. The study used the Photovoice tool to investigate the critical issues and resources of working with refugees and asylum seekers. The participants were 18 Italian social workers employed in the reception systems in Savona. The images chosen by the operators focused on the challenges, critical issues of the work and the possible solutions to propose to stakeholders in order to improve services. The proposed solutions concerned: strengthening networking, continuous training, supervision, intergroup contact.
