Torre di Villa De Mari Gruber di Genova

Abstract

Villa De Mari, meglio nota come Villa Gruber, dal nome della famiglia che ne detenne la proprietà nel XIX secolo, sorge nel cuore di Genova, precisamente in corso Solferino e salita Santa Maria della Sanità. Villa Gruber ha uno stile Sette – Ottocentesco. Tuttavia, le sue facciate mostrano chiaramente i segni del tempo e la mancanza di cure, con uno stato di conservazione piuttosto precario. Non si conosce la data esatta di costruzione della villa, dato che la documentazione disponibile che la riguarda è piuttosto esigua. Il nucleo più antico del complesso è rappresentato dalla torre posta sul fronte occidentale che, pur apparendo cinquecentesca, ha visto probabilmente diversi rifacimenti nel corso dei secoli ed è proprio la torre l’oggetto di questa tesi. Questa mia scelta si rifà alla passione che nutro nei confronti del restauro e del recupero del patrimonio costruito e all’interesse di valorizzare i beni che purtroppo si trovano in uno stato di abbandono. Il progetto per il suo restauro prevede di ottimizzare e razionalizzare la limitata accessibilità e visitabilità, ponendo particolare attenzione all’ultimo piano che ospiterà una spettacolare postazione panoramica. L’approccio del progetto rispetta le tracce del passato. L’obbiettivo principale è preservare l’identità storica e architettonica della torre, consentendo l’edificio di raccontare la propria storia e mantenere aperte possibili vie per futuri studi e comprensione.

Villa De Mari, better known as Villa Gruber, named after the family that owned it in the 19th century, is located in the heart of Genoa, specifically on Corso Solferino and Salita Santa Maria della Sanità. Villa Gruber exhibits a Seventeenth to Eighteenth-century style. However, its facades clearly show the signs of time and neglect, with a rather precarious state of preservation. The exact date of the villa's construction is not known since the available documentation about it is rather scant. The oldest part of the complex is represented by the tower on the western front, which, although appearing to be from the sixteenth century, has likely undergone various renovations over the centuries, and it is precisely the tower that is the subject of this thesis. My choice is driven by my passion for restoration and the preservation of built heritage, as well as the interest in enhancing properties that unfortunately find themselves in a state of abandonment. The restoration project aims to optimize and rationalize the limited accessibility and visitability, with particular attention to the top floor, which will house a spectacular panoramic viewpoint. The project approach respects the traces of the past. The main objective is to preserve the historical and architectural identity of the tower, allowing the building to tell its own story and keeping possible avenues open for future studies and understanding.
