Le sanzioni economiche e il loro impatto sul mondo dello shipping

Abstract

Le sanzioni economiche hanno assunto una progressiva importanza nel corso degli ultimi decenni, in principio con paesi come Iran e Venezuela, per arrivare alla più attuale situazione derivata dalla guerra russo-ucraina. Il 90% delle merci movimentate a livello globale si muove via mare e buona parte di esse proviene proprio da questi paesi, ragione per cui il settore marittimo non può ignorare un tema tanto interconnesso. La scelta dell’argomento è nata dall’interesse nell’indagare le conseguenze che l’applicazione delle sanzioni sta avendo, e continuerà ad avere in futuro, sulle tematiche trattate dal corso di studi in oggetto. L’elaborato si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare la natura delle sanzioni ed il loro ruolo nell’economia globalizzata in cui viviamo oggi, mettendo a fuoco gli Stati e le organizzazioni che le implementano ed i soggetti che le subiscono. La relazione tra shipping e sanzioni può impattare fortemente sui normali flussi della supply chain, andandone ad alterare le rotte e l’operatività. Per adattarsi a questa situazione, gli Stati sender e target mettono in azione strategie opposte, in conflitto tra loro, creando nuovi contesti dai risvolti stimolanti. L’importanza dello studio risiede in una migliore visione del tema che può favorire un approccio futuro più consapevole.

Economic sanctions have become progressively more important over the past decades, beginning with countries such as Iran and Venezuela, and leading up to the more current situation resulting from the Russian-Ukrainian war. 90% of the goods moved globally are moving by sea, and a good portion of them comes from those countries. This is the reason why the maritime industry cannot ignore such an interconnected topic. The choice of the topic stemmed from the interest in investigating the consequences of the application of the sanctions is having, and will continue to have in the future, on the issues covered by the topics of this course of study. The aim of this work is to analyze the nature of the sanctions and the role that they have in the globalized economy in which we are living nowadays. The focus will be on the States and the organizations that emanate the sanctions and those who suffer them. The relationship between shipping and sanctions can strongly impact the normal supply chain flows, altering routes and operations. In order to adapt to this situation, sender and target states are putting into action opposing strategies, which are in conflict among them, creating new scenarios with challenging implications. The importance of this study is giving a better view of the topic that can encourage a more informed future approach.
