Djabal Amil: la Guerra tra Hezbollah e lo Stato d’Israele nel Sud del Libano.

Abstract

Il Libano, ufficialmente Repubblica Libanese, è un Paese complesso con una storia millenaria, uno Stato arabo “atipico” certamente per la sua composizione sociale, caratterizzata dalla presenza di una nutrita comunità cristiana che per anni ha governato il paese, ma anche per come si sono sviluppate le sue vicende storiche e politiche, strettamente intrecciate a quelle degli altri Stati arabi della regione ma, soprattutto, a quelle delle potenze internazionali.Da sempre cerniera fondamentale tra l’Occidente e il Medio Oriente arabo, il Libano è attualmente un paese che lotta per sopravvivere: da una parte si aggravano la crisi economica che attanaglia il Paese ormai da quattro anni e la polarizzazione tra Hezbollah e i suoi avversari locali, le cui conseguenze si fanno sentire specialmente nel Sud del Paese; dall’altra, le tensioni degli ultimi mesi nella regione frontaliera – il cosiddetto Djabal Amil, denominazione locale del Sud del Libano – sembrano suggerire un peggioramento delle relazioni tra Israele e Libano. La minaccia di un'escalation incontrollata, dunque, è sempre dietro l'angolo.

Lebanon, officially the Lebanese Republic, is a complex country with a history stretching back thousands of years, an "atypical" Arab state certainly because of its social composition, characterized by the presence of a large Christian community that has ruled the country for years, but also because of how its historical and political events have developed, closely intertwined with those of other Arab states in the region but, above all, with those of international powers. Having always been a key hinge between the West and the Arab Middle East, Lebanon is currently a country struggling to survive: on the one hand, the economic crisis that has gripped the country for four years now and the polarization between Hezbollah and its local opponents, the consequences of which are being felt especially in the south of the country, are worsening; on the other hand, the tensions of recent months in the border region-the so-called Djabal Amil, a local designation for southern Lebanon-seem to suggest a worsening of relations between Israel and Lebanon. The threat of uncontrolled escalation, therefore, is always just around the corner.
