Applicazione della protezione da Scour nei porti liguri considerando il PIANC

Abstract

Negli ultimi anni, a causa del progresso dell'industria navale e dell'aumento della loro potenza motrice, in particolare l'aggiunta di propulsori trasversali, le banchine -soprattutto le vecchie banchine- hanno affrontato molti problemi. Le eliche causano graffi nel muro della banchina e nelle loro dita e, se trascurate, questo provoca cedimenti parziali o totali della banchina. Insieme a ciò, i flussi indotti dall'elica di solito porta al movimento dei sedimenti e il loro deposito in luoghi inappropriati provoca i porti essere bloccati o ridotti in efficienza. In questa tesi, i problemi del porto di Savona hanno indagato sulla base dei dati ottenuti dall'Autorità Portuale del Mar Ligure Occidentale e Ufficio Tecnico di Savona. Inoltre, secondo i dati ottenuti, le banchine sono 9 e 10 sono state ammodernate e potenziate con nuove strutture e lo è stata la banchina numero 8 esteso come una banchina aperta. Al fine di prevenire gli effetti distruttivi delle eliche delle navi da crociera, la protezione sul pavimento è stata implementata sotto forma di materassi. Nonostante le analisi, il presenza di perturbazione in banchina n fondo della banchina, e contemporaneamente un'altra perlustrazione e accumulo di sedimenti nel banchina numero 8, sono segnalate più recentemente. Queste le recenti sfide che deve affrontare il porto di Savona è stato indagato e successivamente basato sui dati disponibili e anche su altri casi simili in altre parti del mondo sono state proposte alcune soluzioni.

In recent years, due to the progress of shipping industry and the increase in their engine power, especially the addition of transverse thrusters, the quays -especially the old quays- have faced many problems. Propellers cause scour in the quay wall and their toes and if neglected, this causes partial or total failure of the quay. Along with that, propeller induced flows usually leads to the movement of sediments and their settling in inappropriate places causes the ports to be blocked or reduced in efficiency. In this thesis, the problems of the port of Savona have been investigated based on the obtained data from Port Authority of the Western Ligurian Sea and Technical Office of Savona. Moreover, according to the data obtained, quays number 9 and 10 have been modernized and upgraded with new structures and quay number 8 has been extended as an open quay. In order to prevent the destructive effects of cruise ship propellers, protection on the floor has been implemented in the form of mattresses. Despite analyzes, the presence of scour in quay number 10, plus falling of a mattress slab near this scour at the bottom of the quay, and simultaneously another scour and accumulation of sediments in the quay number 8, are reported more recently. These recent challenges facing the port of Savona has been investigated and afterwards based on the available data and also other similar cases in other parts of the world, some solutions have been proposed.
