La nascita del giornalismo d'inchiesta: lo scandalo Watergate nella stampa statunitense e italiana

Abstract

L'elaborato tratta le caratteristiche del giornalismo d’inchiesta degli anni Settanta negli Stati Uniti e in Italia, con particolare riferimento allo scandalo Watergate, esempio di successo del giornalismo investigativo e punto di partenza per l’affermazione a livello internazionale di molte testate. Il caso Watergate è la giusta combinazione di corruzione e coinvolgimento delle massime cariche dello Stato da un lato, e denuncia, determinazione e tutela dei principi costituzionali dall’altro. Per queste sue peculiarità si presenta particolarmente stimolante e degno di essere analizzato in modo dettagliato per poterne cogliere gli insegnamenti.

The content of this report deals with the characteristics of investigative journalism in the United States and Italy in the 1970s, with particular reference to the Watergate scandal, example of the success of investigative journalism and a starting point for the international success of many newspapers. The Watergate case is on the one hand the right combination of corruption and involvement of the highest offices of the State, and on the other hand, determination and protection of constitutional principles. For these peculiarities it is particularly stimulating and worthy of being analyzed in detail.
