SUSTAINABLE PROJECT MANAGEMENT: UN'ANALISI BIBLIOMETRICA

Abstract

A partire dagli anni Novanta, in ogni ambito della società il tema della sostenibilità ha guadagnato sempre più importanza e questo è accaduto anche nel contesto aziendale. Nella gestione dei progetti, dato l'importante valore acquisito dalla sostenibilità, si è assistito all'emergere del concetto di "Sustainable Project Management (SPM)". Questa tematica nella recente letteratura accademica ha guadagnato crescente attenzione, aprendo nuove direzioni di ricerca e dibattito. Tuttavia è ancora in una fase embrionale per comprendere appieno le implicazioni e le sfide di questo campo. Lo scopo di questa tesi è definire i concetti chiave del SPM e condurre un'analisi bibliometrica degli articoli scientifici su di esso. Attraverso questo studio, verranno individuate e analizzate le principali tendenze di ricerca e le aree di interesse emergenti nel campo del SPM. I primi due capitoli di questo studio forniscono un quadro teorico di riferimento, includendo le definizioni di sostenibilità e project management (PM), nonché i concetti rilevanti ai fini del presente studio. Per ottenere una definizione accurata di tali nozioni, sono state consultate fonti accademiche disponibili su Google Scholar. Nel capitolo terzo, viene eseguita un'analisi bibliometrica della letteratura accademica relativa allo SPM. Questo approccio permette di ottenere una visione quantitativa e strutturata degli articoli scientifici pubblicati sull'argomento. A tal fine, è stata utilizzata la banca dati Scopus. Per lo studio bibliometrico del SPM, è stato selezionato un arco temporale compreso tra il 2007 e il 2023, limitando la ricerca ai soli articoli scientifici in lingua inglese. Dopo un attento processo di selezione, è stato possibile identificare un quantitativo di 40 articoli, dai quali sono stati estrapolati i dati rilevanti ai fini dell’analisi. Infine, alla luce dei risultati ottenuti, vengono elaborate delle conclusioni sulla ricerca svolta e suggeriti alcuni possibili studi nel campo del SPM.

Since the 1990s, in every sphere of society the topic of sustainability has gained increasing importance, and this has also happened in the corporate context. In project management, given the important value gained by sustainability, there has been the emergence of the concept of "Sustainable Project Management (SPM)." This topic in recent academic literature has gained increasing attention, opening up new directions for research and debate. However, it is still in its infancy to fully understand the implications and challenges of this field. The purpose of this thesis is to define the key concepts of SPM and conduct a bibliometric analysis of scientific articles on it. Through this study, key research trends and emerging areas of interest in the field of SPM will be identified and analyzed. The first two chapters of this study provide a theoretical framework, including definitions of sustainability and project management (PM), as well as concepts relevant to this study. To obtain an accurate definition of these notions, academic sources available on Google Scholar were consulted. In Chapter Three, a bibliometric analysis of the academic literature related to SPM is performed. This approach allows to obtain a quantitative and structured view of scientific articles published on the topic. For this purpose, the Scopus database was used. For the bibliometric study of SPM, a time frame between 2007 and 2023 was selected, limiting the search to English-language scientific articles only. After a careful selection process, a quantity of 40 articles could be identified, from which data relevant to the analysis were extracted. Finally, in light of the results obtained, conclusions are drawn about the research conducted and some possible studies in the field of SPM are suggested.
