La traduzione sportiva: la pallacanestro nel quotidiano L’Équipe

Abstract

Il presente lavoro ha per oggetto la traduzione italiana di alcuni articoli pubblicati dal quotidiano L’Équipe riguardanti due importanti eventi sportivi dell’anno 2021: le Finali NBA e i Giochi Olimpici di Tokyo. Innanzitutto, l’elaborato definisce le caratteristiche del linguaggio sportivo e della lingua speciale, mettendone in evidenza analogie e differenze, e si concentra in seguito sul linguaggio sportivo della stampa, analizzando le principali caratteristiche sintattiche e lessicali cui i giornalisti ricorrono per stimolare l’attenzione e il coinvolgimento del lettore. Successivamente, la presentazione del corpus tradotto è accompagnata dall’individuazione delle strategie traduttive impiegate, utilizzando le basi teoriche fornite da vari autori, tra i quali Podeur. Infine, dato il diverso atteggiamento, in Francia e in Québec, nei confronti delle parole di origine inglese, il cui utilizzo nel linguaggio sportivo è predominante, il lavoro presenta un’indagine quantitativa e qualitativa relativa agli anglicismi presenti nella stampa sportiva di queste due aree francofone.

The subject of my work is the Italian translation of some articles published by the French newspaper L’Équipe. These articles focus on two major sports events that took place in 2021: the NBA Finals and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. First of all, the paper focuses on sports language, which is a special language. Hence, the characteristics of both languages are identified, and their similarities and differences are highlighted. Then, the focus is shifted to the characteristics of the language of sports journalism, in particular to the syntactic and lexical choices journalists make to capture their readers’ attention and to involve them. The presentation of the translated corpus is accompanied by an analysis of the translation strategies that were used. Since France and Québec adopt a different attitude towards the use of English loans, which are a predominant feature in sports language, the use of English loanwords in sports journalism in these French-speaking areas is the subject of a quantitative and qualitative analysis.
