Teatro Gruppo 63: Palermo 3 ottobre 1963

Abstract

Il presente lavoro vanta un duplice obbiettivo: da un lato si è cercato, per quanto possibile, di ricostruire lo spettacolo di Palermo del 3 ottobre 1963 nelle sue componenti organizzative, registiche e critiche, mentre dall’altro si è cercato di raccogliere, per la prima volta, in un'unica edizione critica gli undici testi rappresentati. Per rendere più fruibile la lettura dei testi, è sembrato doveroso far precedere l’edizione critica da un ampio capitolo introduttivo che descrivesse da un lato la genesi del Gruppo 63 e le tappe fondamentali che hanno condotto all’incontro di Palermo e dall’altro lo spettacolo del 3 ottobre. All’interno del capitolo introduttivo si è scelto di passare in rassegna, seppur in maniera schematica e riassuntiva, tutta l’esperienza teatrale del Gruppo 63. Per quanto concerne tutto ciò che è avvenuto dopo il congresso di Palermo, ossia gli sviluppi poetici e organizzativi del Gruppo sino all’epilogo, si è scelto di non ribadirli all’interno del presente studio perché tali materiali, come si è detto, sono già stati ampiamente trattati in altre circostanze. Il capitolo secondo, fulcro centrale dello studio, presenta l’edizione critica degli undici testi. Dato l’obbiettivo della tesi, si è scelto di presentare i testi secondo l’ordine della rappresentazione e non, semplicemente, in ordine alfabetico per autore. Anche in questo caso è stato doveroso fare ricorso ad un’accurata ricerca poiché l’ordine esatto di rappresentazione, come si vedrà, sino ad oggi non era del tutto chiaro. Per quanto concerne i materiali analizzati, buona parte delle informazioni reperite si basano sui volumi già citati, mentre altro preziosissimo materiale è stato ritrovato nel fondo Anceschi conservato alla Biblioteca dell’Archiginnasio di Bologna, nell’archivio Luigi Gozzi del DAMS di Bologna, nei fondi Giuliani, Lombardi, Leonetti, Malerba, Manganelli conservati presso il Centro Manoscritti di Pavia e nella Biblioteca Elio Pagliarani di Roma.

This work boasts a twofold objective: on the one hand, an attempt has been made, as far as possible, to reconstruct the Palermo performance of October 3, 1963 in its organizational, directorial and critical components, while on the other hand, an attempt has been made to collect, for the first time, in a single critical edition the eleven texts performed. In order to make the reading of the texts more usable, it seemed necessary to precede the critical edition with a large introductory chapter describing both the genesis of Gruppo 63 and the fundamental stages that led to the meeting in Palermo, and the performance of October 3. Within the introductory chapter we chose to review, albeit in a schematic and summarizing manner, the entire theatrical experience of Group 63. As for everything that happened after the Palermo congress, that is, the poetic and organizational developments of the Group up to the epilogue, it was chosen not to reiterate them within the present study because such materials, as noted above, have already been extensively dealt with elsewhere. Chapter Two, the central focus of the study, presents the critical edition of the eleven texts. Given the objective of the thesis, it was chosen to present the texts in the order of representation and not, simply, in alphabetical order by author. Again, it was necessary to resort to careful research since the exact order of representation, as will be seen, until now was not entirely clear. As far as the materials analyzed are concerned, much of the information found is based on the volumes already mentioned, while other invaluable material was found in the Anceschi fonds kept at the Biblioteca dell'Archiginnasio in Bologna, in the Luigi Gozzi archives of the DAMS in Bologna, in the Giuliani, Lombardi, Leonetti, Malerba, and Manganelli fonds kept at the Manuscript Center in Pavia and in the Elio Pagliarani Library in Rome.
