L'esperanto è una lingua franca? Potenzialmente sì, ma vedremo che in realtà è l'inglese la lingua franca per eccellenza. L'esperanto è una lingua artificiale: ha una data di nascita e vedremo che questa è una delle ragioni per cui non può diventare una lingua franca. 67 esperantisti residenti in Italia hanno risposto a un questionario e mi hanno permesso di tracciare una panoramica dell'esperanto in Italia. I risultati sono stati molto incoraggianti e hanno dimostrato l'esistenza di un contesto culturalmente vivace di veri appassionati di questa lingua.
