La Politica Agricola Comune: dai Trattati di Roma al Green Deal europeo

Abstract

La Politica Agricola Comune è una delle politiche più vecchie dell'Unione europea. E' stata lanciata nel 1962, dopo anni di difficoltà e di crisi alimentari, con l'obiettivo di aumentare la produzione agricola, garantire la sicurezza alimentare, assicurare una qualità della vita dignitosa agli agricoltori e stabilizzare i mercati mantenendo prezzi ragionevoli per i consumatori. Oggi, la PAC pesa per circa il 40% del bilancio dell'UE e viene messa a punto dalla Commissione europea. Ogni sette anni questa viene rinnovata: la nuova versione entrerà in vigore nel 2023 e dovrà fare fronte alle sfide che ormai si sono palesate di fronte a noi, cioè rispettare i target di sostenibilità, salvaguardare la biodiversità e proteggere l'ambiente.

The Common Agricultural Policy is one of the older policies of the European Union. It was born in 1962, after years of difficulties and food crisis, with the specific goal to increase the agricultural production, ensure food security and the quality of a respectable life for farmers and finally to stabilize markets in order to maintain reasonable prices for consumers. Nowadays, the PAC weighs about 40% of the EU's budget and it is managed by the European Commission. It is renewed every seven years and the new one will come into effect in 2023. The new PAC will face important challenges concerning the respect of sustainable target, the protection of biodiversity and the environment.
