“E al soldato sulla frontiera lontana”. Dall’Armata Rossa alla Resistenza italiana: i partigiani sovietici nella VI Zona Operativa ligure

Abstract

L'argomento oggetto della tesi è il partigianato sovietico nella VI Zona Operativa ligure, l'area predominante in cui hanno combattutto i partigiani sovietici durante gli anni della Resistenza in Liguria. La storiografia e la memorialistica restistenziale hanno per lungo tempo analizzato e preso in corsiderazione il loro operato in quanto partigiani, tralasciando il loro passato da soldati dell'Armata Rossa e prigionieri di guerra delle forze armate naziste, in quanto deportati nei campi di concentramento e utilizzati come manodopera servile. Inoltre, non vengono quasi menzionate altre figure che rappresentano l'altra faccia della medaglia: i cosiddetti Mongoli e più in generale i volontari sovietici anticomunisti che decisero di arruolarsi senza alcun tipo di costrizione nella Wehrmacht e nelle Waffen-SS. L'obiettivo riproposto è stato quello di ricostruire l'identità di questi personaggi, attraverso l'utilizzo di memorie, fonti archivistiche e database italiani e russi che hanno condotto a diversi percorsi di riconoscimento. Emerge, dunque, il paradosso tra la figura di Fedor Poletaev, Eroe dell'Unione Sovietica e Medaglia d'oro al Valor Militare e tutto un panorama di figure non riconosciute, sia esse fossero abili partigiani sia volontari della Wehrmacht. Bisogna aggiungere che il riconoscimento di questi personaggi è stato a lungo ostacolato dalla stessa URSS che, considerando indistintamente ognuno di loro come "traditore della patria", li ha destinati alla detenzione punitiva nei Gulag, intimorendoli già durante l'Operazione Barbarossa per mezzo degli ordini n.227 e n.270 promulgati direttamente da Stalin. Grazie alla rivoluzione degli archivi post-sovietica, la storiografia ha iniziato a conoscere la sorte di questi soldati-partigiani, nonostante il percorso della ricerca sia soltanto all'inizio di questa riscoperta.

The subject of the thesis is Soviet partisanry in the VI Ligurian Operational Zone, the predominant area in which the Soviet partisans fought during the years of the Resistance in Liguria. Historiography and restistential memorials have long analyzed and taken into consideration their work as partisans, leaving out their past as soldiers of the Red Army and prisoners of war of the Nazi armed forces, as they were deported to concentration camps and used like servile labor. Furthermore, there are hardly any other figures that represent the other side of the coin: the so-called Mongols and more generally the anti-communist Soviet volunteers who decided to enlist without any kind of coercion in the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS. The proposed goal was to reconstruct the identity of these characters, through the use of Italian and Russian memories, archival sources and databases that led to different paths of recognition. Thus, the paradox emerges between the figure of Fedor Poletaev, Hero of the Soviet Union and Gold Medal for Military Valor and a whole panorama of unrecognized figures, whether they were skilled partisans or volunteers of the Wehrmacht. It should be added that the recognition of these characters has long been hindered by the USSR itself which, considering each of them indiscriminately as a "traitor to the homeland", has destined them for punitive detention in the Gulag, already intimidating them during Operation Barbarossa by means of orders. n.227 and n.270 promulgated directly by Stalin. Thanks to the post-Soviet revolution of the archives, historiography has begun to know the fate of these soldiers-partisans, despite the fact that the path of research is only at the beginning of this rediscovery.
