Abstract

La trilogia narrativa di Antonio Bresciani, uscita a puntate sulla “Civiltà Cattolica” tra il 1850 e il 1852, diventa immediatamente un modello per la letteratura reazionaria e cattolica. Questa tesi cerca di evidenziare le cause di questo successo editoriale (ma anche le motivazioni che portano all’oblio, dopo un solo ventennio di ristampe), attraverso l’analisi delle tematiche ricorrenti e dello stile dell’autore. In più si concentra sulle varianti tra le edizioni definitive e quelle originali e sulle tecniche narrative utilizzate in quest’ultime per raggiungere e fidelizzare un pubblico più ampio.

Antonio Bresciani's narrative trilogy, serialized on “Civiltà Cattolica” between 1850 and 1852, immediately became a model for reactionary and Catholic literature. This degree thesis seeks to highlight the causes of this publishing success (but also the reasons that lead to oblivion, after only twenty years of reprints), through the analysis of the recurring themes and the author's style. In addition, it focuses on the variations between the final and original editions and on the narrative techniques used in the latter to reach and retain a wider audience.
