Il supplemento del Corriere della Sera: il "Corriere Letterario" (1963-1967)

Abstract

Il lavoro prende in esame uno dei supplementi che il «Corriere della Sera» offrì a partire dalla primavera del 1963: il Corriere letterario. Si trattava della pubblicazione settimanale di una pagina interamente dedicata alle recensioni e notizie librarie e stampata sul quotidiano ogni domenica, prima della pagina degli spettacoli. Del supplemento il lavoro considera i primi quattro anni di pubblicazione soltanto o, più precisamente, gli anni in cui esso uscì sotto la responsabilità di Enrico Emanuelli (1909-1967). Dopo aver percorso la storia dell’informazione letteraria dalla nascita della Terza pagina fino ai primi anni ’60, cioè fino alla stagione dei supplementi letterari (cap. 1) e aver tracciato nelle linee essenziali la storia della cultura al «Corriere della Sera» dalle sue origini fino all’anno in cui Alfio Russo (direttore del quotidiano dal 1961 al 1968) aveva deciso di varare il supplemento (cap. 2); il lavoro prosegue offrendo notizie sulla figura di Enrico Emanuelli, il redattore letterario, (2.2) e dando una panoramica del supplemento (cap. 3): cioè prosegue raccontando, tramite una rassegna degli articoli più pertinenti, l’evoluzione e il fallimento del tentativo attuato dal redattore di accogliere al giornale alcuni esponenti della neo-avanguardia italiana; e poi focalizzando l’attenzione sulla struttura della pagina, sul modo di fare informazione tramite essa, sulle rubriche e sui collaboratori, sempre cercando di fornire esempi e riferimenti alle pagine letterarie consultate. In appendice al volume, infine, si trova un Indice dedotto dai numeri del supplemento, che registra i titoli e gli autori degli articoli apparsi su di esso dalla prima occorrenza del 10 marzo 1963 all’ultima curata da Enrico Emanuelli, del 2 luglio 1967. Insieme allo spoglio delle pagine, l’Indice è stato strumento essenziale per riuscire ad avere una visione quanto più d’insieme del supplemento.

This work examines one of the supplements offered by «Corriere della Sera» from spring 1963, namely, the Corriere Letterario: a weekly publication, printed on Sundays and dedicated to reviews and book-related news. Here, only the first four years of its publication, occurred under the editorship of Enrico Emanuelli (1909-1967), are considered. After having gone through the history of literary information from the birth of the Terza pagina to the early 60’s, which marked the beginning of the literary supplements season (Ch.1), and having traced the essential trajectory of the history of culture at «Corriere della Sera» from its beginning to the year in which Alfio Russo (the newspaper’s director from 1961 to 1968) decided to set up the literary section (Ch. 2), the work provides some information about Enrico Emanuelli (Ch. 2.2). Successively, an overview of the supplement itself is offered (Ch. 3): firstly, the evolution and the failure of the attempt, put into action by the editor, to welcome among the literary section pages some exponents of the italian neo-avanguarde are recounted by means of a review of the most relevant articles; then, the attention shifts to the structure of the page, to the way through which it was adopted to provide information, to the columns and to the collaborators, always trying to provide examples and references to the consulted articles. Finally, in the appendix of the volume is to be found an index of the supplement, recording both authors and titles of the articles appeared on its pages from 10 March 1963, when the first publication occurred, to 2 July 1967, when the last number edited by Emanuelli was published: this, together with the careful examination of the pages, has been an essential tool in the attempt to gather an overview of the supplement that is as complete as possible.
