Forme e rappresentazioni della fine dell'Occidente contemporaneo: "collapsologie" e prospettive critiche

Abstract

L’elaborato rappresenta un discorso sulla fine del mondo occidentale contemporaneo, concentrandosi sull’analisi che di questa eventuale fine propone la disciplina della "collapsologie", nata in Francia nel 2015. L’intento di questo nuovo campo di studi è di porsi come guida nell’ambito dei dati circa il mutamento climatico portandoli all’attenzione, ma soprattutto sapendo gestire le reazioni che questi possono suscitare. La nostra intenzione è inquadrare il discorso sulla fine in una prospettiva che prende le mosse dal pensiero di Ernesto de Martino per arrivare ad immaginare le forme che la fine della civiltà occidentale potrebbe assumere, in base ai presupposti e alla struttura che la caratterizzano e alla luce del mutamento climatico. Prepararsi ad immaginare e pensare la fine del nostro mondo è oggi un compito urgente vista la drammaticità degli scenari che il mutamento climatico prospetta. Attraverso l’analisi delle opere e del pensiero dell’artista tedesco Anselm Kiefer mostreremo come la concezione del tempo influenzi la nostra immagine della fine; recuperando una visione ciclica del tempo, per esempio, la fine apparirà non più come un punto di arrivo definitivo cui niente può seguire, bensì come un momento di passaggio ed anche un’opportunità per immaginare un’alternativa a questo mondo che si approssima a finire.

This thesis focuses on the end of the contemporary West, presenting the analysis of this subject proposed by the collapsologie, a new field of study born in France in 2015 which aim is to guide through the climate change’s data, by giving attention to them, above all knowing how to manage the reactions that these data can arouse. Our intention is to present the subject of the end by considering Ernesto de Martino’s thought on it, which it can help us in imaging the forms that the end of western civilization could take, according to its structure and according to climate change. It is now urgent to start imaging and thinking about the end of our world, due to the gravity of the scenarios presented by climate change. Through the analysis of the artwork of german artist Anselm Kiefer we want to argue that the conception of time influences our idea of the end; for exemple, by choosing for a cyclic vision of time, the end will not seem anymore as a definitive point of arrival but as a transition and an opportunity to imagine an alternative to this world which is coming to an end.
