Stilnovo e Novecento. Fortuna critica e editoriale dello Stilnovo e sue suggestioni nella poesia italiana del secondo Novecento

Abstract

Questa tesi si interroga sui modi in cui si declina lo Stilnovo all’interno del Novecento, facendo riferimento sia alla fortuna critica dell’etichetta (dalle riflessioni di De Sanctis a quelle di Contini), sia alla fortuna editoriale dei testi degli autori stilnovisti (dalla Vita nuova, alle antologie, fino alle Rime dei singoli autori). La fortuna dello stilnovismo nel corso del Novecento traccia un percorso destinato a intrecciarsi nelle poesie e nelle riflessioni critiche di alcuni autori fondamentali ed esemplari come Pound, Eliot, Montale e Luzi, i quali rappresentano un punto essenziale per cercare di comprendere il grande successo del mito stilnovistico. La poesia della seconda metà del secolo riflette il grande successo di Dante e Cavalcanti, come nel caso dell’«esperimento cavalcantiano» del Seme del piangere di Giorgio Caproni e della parodia della Beatrice dantesca nella poesia di Giovanni Giudici in O beatrice (fino all’esperimento trobadorico di Salutz). In questi due autori, emerge l’idea che la componente stilnovista non sia solo un mero recupero, ma la matrice su cui costruire il fare poetico, una riappropriazione del paradigma cavalcantian-dantesco capace di cogliere le contraddizioni di un secolo e i conflitti del poeta moderno e restituire alla poesia la funzione di «fatto naturale».

This degree thesis investigates the ways in which Stilnovo was declined in the 20th century, referring both to the critical fortune of the label (from De Sanctis' to Contini's reflections) and to the editorial fortune of the Stilnovist authors’s texts (from the Vita nuova to anthologies, up to the Rime of individual authors). The fortune of Stilnovism during the 20th century traces a path destined to intertwine in the poems and the critical reflections of some fundamental and exemplary authors such as Pound, Eliot, Montale and Luzi, who represent an essential point in order to try to understand the great success of the myth of Stilnovo. The poetry of the second half of the century reflects the great success of Dante and Cavalcanti, as in the case of the "Cavalcantian experiment" of Giorgio Caproni's Seme del piangere and the parody of Dante's Beatrice in Giovanni Giudici's poem O beatrice (up to the troubadour experiment of Salutz). In these two authors, it emerges the idea that the stilnovist component is not only a mere recovery, but the matrix on which they build the poetic making. This is a reappropriation of the Cavalcantian-Dantesque paradigm able to grasp the contradictions of a century and the modern poet’s conflict and to give back to poetry the function of «natural fact».
