Supporto e prevenzione delle manifestazioni cutanee associate alla patologia diabetica

Abstract

In questo studio sono analizzate le manifestazioni cutanee associate al diabete, partendo da una descrizione della struttura e del ruolo fisiologico della cute per comprendere meglio i meccanismi che vengono alterati da una eccessiva e sostenuta quantità di glucosio presente nel sangue. Successivamente sono individuate le cause e le ripercussioni che queste hanno sulla struttura del derma e dell’epidermide. Il lavoro sperimentale presentato in questa tesi si focalizza sulla ricerca degli ingredienti e delle formulazioni cosmetiche adatte a sostenere le esigenze di una pelle diabetica, al fine di prevenire danni maggiori. È stata eseguita una serie di prove con formulazioni prototipo, le quali sono state sottoposte ai controlli di stabilità, modificando le formule secondo le necessità e analizzando i risultati. Sono descritti gli ingredienti utilizzati con le loro funzionalità, le apparecchiature e i procedimenti eseguiti sia nella preparazione a banco sia in macchina. In conclusione, sono stati concepiti due prodotti cosmetici efficaci e sicuri da utilizzare, che hanno superato i controlli di stabilità previsti e che sarebbero conformi al Regolamento (CE) n. 1223/2009 quindi soddisferebbero i requisiti per essere immessi sul mercato.

This study analyzes the diabetic skin manifestations, describing the structure and physiological role of the skin to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms that are modified by an excessive amount of glucose in the blood. The causes and the repercussions they have on the structure of dermis and epidermis were identified. The submitted experimental work focuses on the research of ingredients and cosmetic formulations suitable to support the needs of diabetic skin, in order to prevent major damage. A series of attempts with prototype formulations were performed, stability tests were run, formulas were modified as needed and finally, the results were analyzed. In conclusion, two cosmetic products, which are effective and safe to use, have been designed. They have passed the required stability tests and would comply with Regulation (EC) no. 1223/2009. Therefore, these products would meet the requirements in order to be placed on the market.
