L’impatto del turismo etnologico in Amazzonia: implicazioni ambientali e socio-economiche

Abstract

Il seguente elaborato è strutturato in quattro capitoli. Il primo si concentra sugli aspetti definitori del turismo etnologico. Viene posto l’accento su alcuni concetti che lo caratterizzano, quali: il patrimonio culturale immateriale in antitesi alla falsificazione delle culture, partendo dalle immagini mentali che molto spesso, anche erroneamente, si creano nella regione di partenza. Infine, viene posta l’attenzione su alcune delle principali destinazioni. Oggetto del secondo capitolo è l’Amazzonia, meta indiscussa del turismo etnografico, analizzata da diversi punti di vista dando risalto al Rio delle Amazzoni, fiume che senza altro contribuisce a caratterizzare l’area studiata. In particolare, l’analisi si concentra sull’Amazzonia peruviana, un’area che al suo interno ospita numerose comunità indigene, riserve ed aree protette caratterizzate dalla presenza di una elevata biodiversità flora e faunistica. Viene anche affrontato il problema della deforestazione e delle conseguenze che questa ha non solo a livello locale, ma anche planetario. Si analizzano quindi le iniziative promosse dalle varie associazioni del mondo che si pongono come obiettivo la salvaguardia della biodiversità. Il terzo capitolo affronta il tema dello sfruttamento fuori controllo delle risorse naturali in Amazzonia. A tal proposito si definisce il termine di neo-estrattivismo, si analizzano le conseguenze ambientali, i rischi per la coltivazione della soia così come gli effetti sulle popolazioni locali. Attraverso l’utilizzo di esempi, si mette in risalto come a seguito di tali comportamenti alcune comunità siano state costrette ad abbandonare i propri territori Infine, il quarto capitolo è dedicato a Iquitos come esempio di destinazione di turismo etnologico, città peruviana localizzata nella regione di Loreto.

The following paper is structured in four chapters. The first focuses on the defining aspects of ethnological tourism and analyzes the modalities that allow its practice. The accent is placed on some concepts that characterize it, such as: the intangible cultural heritage as opposed to the falsification of cultures, starting from the mental images that very often, even erroneously, are created in the region of origin. Finally, attention is paid to some of the main destinations of ethnological tourism identified worldwide. The object of the second chapter is the Amazon, the undisputed destination of ethnographic tourism, analyzed from different points of view. The analysis focuses on the Peruvian Amazon, an area that hosts numerous indigenous communities, reserves and protected areas characterized by the presence of a high biodiversity, flora and fauna. The problem of deforestation and the consequences it has not only at the local level, but also at the global level, is also addressed. The initiatives promoted by the various associations in the world which aim to safeguard biodiversity are analyzed, such as, among others, the WWF. The third chapter deals with the issue of the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources in the Amazon. In this regard, the term neo-extractivism is defined, the environmental consequences, the risks for the cultivation of soy as well as the effects on local populations are analyzed. Through the use of examples, it is highlighted how following these behaviors some communities have been forced to abandon their territories Finally, the fourth chapter is dedicated to Iquitos as an example of ethnological tourism destination, a Peruvian city located in the region of Loreto.
