Comunità ecuadoriana in Italia: il caso genovese- Impatto socioeconomico della comunità a Genova

Abstract

Il presente studio ha come scopo esaminare le caratteristiche della migrazione ecuadoriana in Italia, approfondendo le caratteristiche del fenomeno a Genova, dove la comunità ecuadoriana rappresenta poco meno del 3% rispetto alla popolazione nel suo complesso. Circoscrivere l’area di studio è stato funzionale per misurare l’impatto socioeconomico della comunità a livello locale e allo stesso tempo per comprendere come, dove, perché e con che livello di soddisfazione quest’ultima si sia radicata nel capoluogo ligure. Si è proceduto con l’analisi socioeconomica della situazione dello stato andino negli anni ’90 e delle scelte di politica monetaria che indussero il processo di dollarizzazione al quale la popolazione non poté sottrarsi. Successivamente si è costruito un quadro territoriale della popolazione ecuadoriana in Italia per approfondire quello genovese verificando anche l’esistenza di eventuali similitudini tra Guayaquil, la principale di provenienza, e la Superba. Particolare attenzione è stata anche riservata allo studio delle relazioni formali ed informali in essere Ecuador e Italia. Si è poi entrati nel merito di alcune caratteristiche socio-territoriali della comunità ecuadoriana presente a Genova, evidenziandone la distribuzione per quartiere, le principali caratteristiche occupazionali ed la presenza nel sistema scolastico/universitario locale. È poi stata realizzata un’indagine di carattere empirico tramite la somministrazione di un questionario semi strutturato volto a verificare come la comunità ecuadoriana percepisce la città, il loro livello di soddisfazione così come le loro aspettative per il futuro. Data la situazione contingente, è stato inevitabile verificare il livello di percezione delle problematiche socioeconomiche e sanitarie dovute alla pandemia da Covid-19.

This work aims to examine the case of the Ecuadorian community in Italy, specifically in the city of Genoa, where it represents almost 3% of the total population. The main purpose is to understand in depth what it means for the community under study to live in the city mentioned and the socio-economic impact of the same. We begin by analyzing the situation of the Andean state in the 90s, the causes that led politicians to the choice of changing the national currency, subjecting the citizenship to the process of dollarization. Then, we get to know the numbers of the Ecuadorian community, first of all in Italy and secondly in Genoa, verifying the existence of similarities between the city of Lanterna and Guayaquil, without neglecting the importance of both formal and informal relations between the two states. Once these points have been examined, the reality of the community in the city they have chosen is studied closely, the distribution by neighborhoods, the areas of occupation, the presence in schools. To have a practical feedback, the perception, the levels of satisfaction and the future perspectives are investigated directly with the community through a questionnaire addressed to the Ecuadorians living in the city. In the historical framework in which we find ourselves, it was inevitable to also deal with Covid-19, the way it affected people's lives. As for the sources used, in addition to the classic bibliography, reports from various organizations were used, both national - both Italian and Ecuadorian, and international, as well as the use of databases relied on by the research organizations. Regarding the methodology, a total of four chapters were developed, the first three are fully referenced in the sources while the fourth aims to use primary data obtained from the questionnaire disseminated by the snowball sampling method.
