Libertà ed esistenza. Il gioco delle forme nella filosofia pratica di Jeanne Hersch

Abstract

Il presente studio è rivolto a un approfondimento del pensiero di Jeanne Hersch, una figura di spessore filosofico, fra le grandi personalità del ‘900. Nel primo capitolo, si tenterà di far luce su una delle tesi fondamentali che fa da sfondo a tutto l’impianto filosofico di Hersch, ovvero, sulla convinzione che la trascendenza sia per l’uomo, in ultima analisi, inafferrabile, impensabile e, dunque, indicibile. Nell’intento di ricostruire le origini di questa tesi, si procederà nel tentativo di individuare, con particolare attenzione al concetto di limite, alcuni possibili punti di contatto fra i presupposti metafisici del pensiero dell’autrice e il concetto classico della “teologia negativa”, a tale scopo ci si avvarrà anche del supporto del pensiero di Karl Jaspers, maestro e figura di riferimento essenziale per Hersch. Nel secondo capitolo, si procederà, invece, a un’esposizione di ontologia ed estetica dell’autrice; ci si soffermerà sul concetto di “incarnazione”, nonché, sulla sua teoria della forma, con particolare riguardo alla sua concezione della forma artistica, la quale, più di tutte “incarna” la gioia creativa che, secondo Hersch, caratterizza il rapporto dell’essere umano con la realtà. Infine, si considereranno, nel capitolo terzo, i risvolti etici del pensiero di Hersch, che fonda su una capacità di libertà comune a ogni uomo, e sulla conseguente possibilità di compiere un atto assoluto, la sua concezione dei diritti umani e il suo particolare concetto di tolleranza. Una tolleranza che, legata all’esperienza di una trascendenza non posseduta e alla consapevolezza dell'impossibilità di agire con la forza su di una coscienza, permette di mantenere aperto uno spazio di libertà e di autentica comunicazione fra esistenze irriducibili.

The present study aims to examine the thought of Jeanne Hersch, a figure of philosophical importance among the great personalities of the 20th century. The first chapter of this paper will attempt to shed light on one of the fundamental theses that forms the background to Hersch's entire philosophical framework, which is the conviction that transcendence is, ultimately, elusive, unthinkable and therefore unspeakable for man. In order to reconstruct the origins of this thesis, the study will try to identify, dedicating particular attention to the concept of limit, some possible points of connection between the metaphysical presuppositions of the author's thought and the classical concept of "negative theology", also making use of the support of Karl Jaspers’s thought, a mentor and essential role model for Hersch. The second chapter will proceed to an exposition of the author's ontology and aesthetics, focusing on the concept of "incarnation", as well as on her theory of form, with particular regard to her conception of artistic form, which, more than any other, "embodies" the creative joy that, according to Hersch, characterizes the interaction between human beings and reality. Finally, the third chapter will consider the ethical aspects of Hersch's thought, which establishes its conception of human rights and its particular concept of tolerance on the ability for freedom common to every man and on the consequent possibility of performing an absolute act. A tolerance that, linked to the experience of a not possessed transcendence and to the awareness of the impossibility of acting with force on a conscience, allows to keep an open space of liberty and authentic communication between irreducible existences.
