Problemi relativi alla scrittura negli scholia all'Iliade

Abstract

L’elaborato intende trattare le tematiche relative alla scrittura negli scolii iliadici. L’indagine è partita dalla voce “litterae” dell’indice V di Erbse; agli scolii così individuati ne sono stati aggiunti altri non registrati nell’index. La natura del seguente studio è duplice, dal momento che sono stati individuate sia gli scolii relativi alla tematica della scrittura all’interno della finzione narrativa, sia la scrittura come problema di trasmissione. Lo studio relativo alla prima parte – cioè quello inerente alla scrittura nella finzione narrativa – ha l’intento di analizzare accuratamente gli scolii relativi alle due menzioni della scrittura nel poema: l’episodio dei controversi σήματα λυγρά di Bellerofonte (Il. VI 166-180) e quello dell’estrazione del κλῆρος di Aiace (Il. VII 175-189). Lo studio delle interpretazioni antiche relative a questi passi e delle riflessioni in merito alla possibile allusione alla scrittura è stato operato tramite il confronto delle tre classi scoliastiche VMK, exegetica e D, con l’ausilio ulteriore della testimonianza di Eustazio. Segue questi capitoli una breve rassegna relativa all’interpretazione dei moderni circa la possibilità di allusioni alla scrittura nel poema. La seconda parte, di interesse maggiormente filologico, si concentra sui casi scoliastici (Il. XI 99-112, Il. VII 233-241, Il. XXI 354-371, Il. XIV 231-241) in cui sono presenti riflessioni, rimontanti ai filologi ellenistici, intorno agli errori che si generarono nel testo omerico a causa di incomprensioni del cambiamento di scrittura avvenuto in V secolo a.C. Chiude l’elaborato un capitolo riguardante le metodologie di approccio ai testi da parte dei filologi ellenistici. Tutte le traduzioni che corredano i testi degli scolii, dell’Iliade e delle altre fonti utilizzate sono nostre.

This paper aims to deal with issues related to writing in iliadic scholia. The survey started from the "litterae" item of the Erbse V index; others scholia, not registered in the index, have been added to the thus identified. The nature of the following study is twofold, since both the scholia relating to the theme of writing in the narrative fiction and writing as a transmission problem have been identified. The study relating to the first part - that is the one inherent to writing in fictional narrative - has the intention of carefully analyzing the scholia relating to the two mentions of writing in the poem: the episode of the controversial σήματα λυγρά of Bellerophon (Il. VI 166-180 ) and that of the extraction of Ajax's κλῆρος (Il. VII 175-189). The study of ancient interpretations relating to these passages and of the reflections on the possible allusion to writing was carried out by comparing the three scholastic classes VMK, exegetica and D, with the further help of Eustatius's testimony. These chapters follow a brief review on the interpretation of moderns about the possibility of allusions to writing in the poem. The second part, of more philological interest, focuses on scholastic cases (Il. XI 99-112, Il. VII 233-241, Il. XXI 354-371, Il. XIV 231-241) in which there are reflections, to Hellenistic philologists, regarding the errors that were generated in the Homeric text due to misunderstandings of the change in writing that took place in the 5th century BC A chapter on the methodologies of approach to texts by Hellenistic philologists closes the paper. All the translations that accompany the texts of the scholia, the Iliad and other sources used, are ours.
