| it_IT |
| dc.description.abstract | This thesis develops the structural and geotechnical design of a new hotel and residential building in Via De Gasperi, Riomaggiore (SP), built adjacent to the existing Hotel Villa Argentina within the Cinque Terre National Park. The site lies on a steep terraced slope, in a context subject to a complex system of landscape protection constraints. The first part reconstructs the territorial, regulatory and urban planning framework and the architectural design process, whose choices directly shape the load-bearing system: split levels, vertical elements that are not aligned across floors, and columns at the ground floor supported by transfer beams. The second part, carried out in accordance with the Italian Building Code (NTC 2018), concerns the reinforced concrete structure, modelled with finite elements in SAP2000 and assessed through linear dynamic response spectrum analysis at the Life Safety and Damage Limit States. Owing to the irregularity of the structure, a non-dissipative behaviour was adopted, and the vertical seismic component was included because of the columns supported by transfer beams. Slabs, beams, columns, lift cores, shear walls and the retaining wall were verified, providing for each family a detailed calculation example and a summary of the checks for all elements. The geotechnical part, based on the characterisation of the rock mass of the Macigno formation, includes the calculation of static and seismic earth pressures on the retaining wall, the verification of the capping beam of the existing micropile wall, and the design of inverted-beam foundations on two levels, verified for bearing capacity, sliding and settlement. The work shows how integrating the reading of the context, structural modelling and geotechnical design makes it possible to manage the critical issues typical of steep and highly constrained sites. | en_UK |
