| it_IT |
| dc.description.abstract | Fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks expose a programmable radio access network through the Open RAN (O-RAN) architecture, enabling software-defined xApps to exercise closed-loop control over base stations. Existing xApp designs operate directly on raw Key Performance Indicator (KPI) streams without any shared understanding of the network condition. This thesis proposes a Semantic State Encoder for the 5G NR RAN: a dual-output neural architecture that maps raw KPI measurements to binary semantic labels describing both the current network state and its predicted state 20ms ahead. Six binary labels are defined from 13 KPI streams covering signal quality, link reliability, channel efficiency, interference, load, and edge delay. Three configurations are compared: A1 (KPIs only), B1 (KPIs plus past labels, single encoder), and B2 (proposed dual independent encoders). B2 achieves current-state F1 Macro of 0.9279±0.0134 and future-state F1 Macro of 0.7232±0.0067 (tuned: 0.7446±0.0055) over five seeds, outperforming B1 on both tasks. A factorial ablation confirms a strong interaction effect: past labels and dual encoders are complementary. A state persistence analysis (Pearson r=0.856) explains per-label predictability limits. Comparison against GRU, LSTM, and Vanilla Transformer confirms a dataset-level ceiling (0.72–0.75). The framework enables 58.5% preemptive control decisions and satisfies the Near-RT RIC 100ms budget by a factor of 37. | en_UK |
